Jan de Klerk crushes Kingswood Academy on netball courts
Hoërskool Jan de Klerk High School (JDK) hosted Kingswood Academy for a thrilling second match of the Gauteng West D2 School Netball League, which was played on Jan de Klerk's courts on Wednesday, May 7, featuring the U14 and U15 teams.

Kingswood had multiple scoring opportunities but converted one goal, and JDK's U14 team scored four goals in the first quarter. JDK goal attacker Kagiso Maimane did a fantastic job of scoring and creating opportunities, bringing a sense of perseverance to her teammates and securing a lead at halftime.
Kingswood did not put in more effort and scored only one goal, but JDK seemed hungry for more in the second quarter. The home team scored three goals, and they maintained an optimistic attitude throughout the second quarter by performing well in possession and passing. JDK won their second match 7–2. Kagiso is now the school's highest scorer, with 12 goals scored throughout her matches.
Matshidiso Mantjie, JDK's coach, expressed her happiness about the second win of the league.
'My team did their best, they played their hearts out. I'm very happy with the performance and hard work they put in.
We are aiming to play in the nationals,' said Matshidiso.
Thenjiwe Muleya, Kingswood's coach, emphasised the necessity for her team to improve their attack and defence.
'My players made a lot of mistakes. Now our focus is on the attack and defence because we can't afford to concede any goals and not score in our attack. We have learnt a lot from the home side and as a coach, it gives me the belief that my girls will do the right things in the next game,' said Thenjiwe.
Mpho Tshibudi, the Player of the Match, shared how she feels about their second win.
'I appreciate my coach believing in us. My teammates showed they are winners.'
It was a winning afternoon for JDK's as its U15 team recorded their first win after losing their first two game of the league.
In the first quarter, JDK dominated the away side, with their dedication granting them four goals scored by Nompelelelo Lupuwana and the away side scoring only one goal. In the second quarter, the away side managed to score two goals. JDK continued with positive momentum, and Mpumelelo Ngwenya scored six goals to secure their first win.
I'm happy with our performance; we are going to continue with our winning spirit so that we can win the league and put our school's name on the map,' Mpumelelo said.
