In a letter to the CM, Kalapipal legislator Ghanshyam Chandravanshi said the suspension of licence issuance, put in place during the model code of conduct for the 2023 assembly polls, should now be lifted, as many people are seeking arms for personal protection, and have already undergone firearms training.
He confirmed the same to the TOI and shared the letter written to CM. He also underlined the need for firearms training to women.
Besides, Chandravanshi emphasised the need for the govt to facilitate this process by resuming the issuance of new firearm licenses, which has been put on hold.
The MLA urged the CM to order issuance of necessary directives for granting firearm licenses to law-abiding and qualified individuals, in accordance with prescribed norms and safety standards.
