Grenade attack: NIA recreates crime scene at BJP leader's house in Jalandhar
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the recent grenade attack on BJP leader Manoharjan Kalia's house in Jalandhar, arrived in the city and recreated the crime scene. Kalia and his close associates confirmed the development. NIA teams, along with staff from the Division Number 3 police station, arrived outside Kalia's house with the accused, who had hurled a grenade. Kalia said, 'I was out in the city when the NIA teams arrived. Upon returning home, I learnt about their visit. They had brought the accused too.' Kalia's close associate Rajeev Walia said, 'Some NIA officers, in a vehicle with a Delhi number plate, arrived at the crime scene on Monday, along with them the accused who had thrown the grenade at the house. They asked him how the grenade was thrown. The team didn't enter the house.' The NIA team was accompanied by Jalandhar city police personnel. The NIA team remained at the crime scene for only 3 to 5 minutes. After their investigation, the officers immediately left the scene. The grenade attack on the BJP leader's house on April 7, shattered windowpanes and damaged a vehicle, but there were no reports of any injuries. Later, Happy Passian, a commander of the Khalistani terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International and an ISI associate, reportedly claimed the responsibility of the attack. Later, the Punjab Police claimed to have arrested main accused Saidul Amin, a resident of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. His alleged local aides — Satish, alias Kaka, alias Lucky, a resident of Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar, and Harry, a resident of Garha Road, Jalandhar — who reportedly provided logistical support to the main accused had already been arrested. A case was registered at the Division No. 3 police station in Jalandhar. 'Now, the NIA has intensified its investigation into the matter and is trying to uncover the terrorists' network, the agency is also looking into how such conspiracies are being orchestrated between Pakistani-based ISI and Khalistani terrorists, and how local youths are being trapped in these schemes,' said a Jalandhar police officer.

Winnipeg Jets fans lament 'really rough' end to Stanley Cup dream but commend team for this year's run
It's the end of the road for a hockey dream — for this season, at least. A power-play goal shot by Dallas Stars defenceman Thomas Harley sealed the fate of the Winnipeg Jets 1:33 into overtime on Saturday. The Stars moved to the NHL's Western Conference final after defeating Winnipeg 2-1 in Game 6 of the second-round NHL hockey playoff — capping the Jet's run for the Stanley Cup after a franchise-record regular season. "I'll get over it in a couple of days. That's why it's the long weekend. But it's rough, it's really rough," said Matthew Lacey. He was one of dozens of fans who watched what turned out to be the last Jet's game this season at the Canada Life Centre's jumbotron. It was "so close, so close," he said, but "[Mark] Scheifele's got a good one at least." The team's forward scored the Jet's lone goal of the game just hours after the unexpected death of his father. "Scheifele really wanted to win it for his dad," said Jets fan Kianna Ritchot. "I lost my dad, and I know how much it hurts, and you could tell how much he wanted to do it." "I know his dad was smiling down on him and proud of him." The True North Youth Foundation said it has received an "organic outpouring of support" from both Jets and Stars fans donating in recognition of Scheifele's loss. More than $55,000 had been raised by Sunday with a $5,500 donation coming from the Dallas Stars organization. The funds will be used to "meaningfully impact youth in our community in honour of the Scheifele family," True North said in a statement, with planning still underway. "It's commendable he was still playing after that tragedy, that loss, and he was the only goal. It's amazing," fan Ani Kalia said. It was disappointing to see the Jets capped their run for the Stanley Cup without a single victory on the road, Kalia said, but "we're still proud of them," he said. "Next year, 2026, the Stanley Cup comes home," Kalia said. Jets fan Kevin Mazak is also looking ahead for the next season, keeping his fingers crossed so Scheifele and defenceman Josh Morrissey — who suffered an upper-body injury in the final game of the playoffs first-round — can come back well and help the team "pick things up where we left off this year." "They made it past the first round, they slayed the demons that they had," Mazak said. "We still believe."

'Pakistan Jahan Khada Ho Jata Hai...': Rajnath Singh Invokes Amitabh Bachchan Dialogue In Jibe At Islamabad
Last Updated: On a visit to Srinagar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh mocked Pakistan's economic dependence by quoting a famous Amitabh Bachchan dialogue, likening it to a nation of beggars. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday kick-started a crucial visit to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the overall security situation, especially along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border. Addressing the nation from the Union Territory, the Defence Minister took a dig at Pakistan over the country's economic crisis. During his address, Singh invoked a popular dialogue by Amitabh Bachchan from one of his movies, 'Kalia'. 'Pakistan jahan khada ho jata hai wahin see maangne walon ki line shuru hoti hai…' the Defence Minister said, which roughly translates to, 'Wherever Pakistan stands, the line of beggars starts right there." Singh also said the Pakistan, by constantly begging, has reached such a state of ignorance. 'You must have heard recently how, once again, it went to the IMF to beg for a loan," he said. Singh also slammed Pakistan's ability to handle the nuclear weapons and asked that the global world that are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of such a 'rogue" nation like Pakistan. 'The world knows that our army's aim is accurate, and when they hit the target, they leave the counting to the enemies. How strong is India's pledge against terrorism today, it can be known from the fact that we did not even care about their nuclear blackmail," Rajnath Singh said. 'The whole world has seen how irresponsibly Pakistan has threatened India. Today, from the land of Srinagar, I want to raise this question whether nuclear weapons are safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation. I believe that Pakistan's nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," he said. The Defence Minister credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, and lauded the 'anger" shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir against Pakistan and terrorism. 'The entire country is proud of what you did during 'Operation Sindoor' under the able leadership and guidance of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I may be your Defence Minister, but before that, I am a citizen of India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have expressed their anger towards Pakistan and terrorism with complete unity. I congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Defence Minister said. Singh, during his visit, also interacted with the armed forces, and congratulated them on the success of 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan.
