Bay Path University hosts panel for future journalists
LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – One local university held a panel Tuesday morning to educate future journalists on the changing world of news, there was also a special guest and a familiar face at the event.
The media landscape over the past decade has changed drastically. Local professionals across multiple platforms spoke to students about navigating this changing field.
Bay Path University held the panel discussion titled 'Amplify Our Voices and Stories in a World of Change' at its Longmeadow campus. The panel included figures like radio hosts Monte Belmonte and Kaliis Smith. Our very own 22News storm team meteorologist Brian Lapis took part in the panel and talked about how the new generation of journalists can stay educated.
'I think it's important that our young journalists consume a wide range of news across the political and cultural spectrum and carve out some time to watch and read journalism local and regional and national,' Lapis adds.
Students asked questions to the speakers about a wide variety of topics from working in an intergenerational environment to finding the best ways to reach their audience.
