The story is set in the last known city, Kasi, ruled by the tyrannical Supreme Yaskin, portrayed by Kamal Haasan, who controls the population from a colossal floating megastructure called the Complex. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwathama, and Prabhas is seen as Bhairava , a bounty hunter with a mysterious connection to the ancient warrior Karna. Deepika portrays the role of Sumathi, also known as SUM-80, who seems to be carrying the prophesied Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu. The movie is left on a cliffhanger for the sequel. Speaking of its sequel, 'Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2' is rumored to begin in late 2025. The sequel will dig deeper into the story of Supreme Yaskin, the antagonist who gains new strength.
