KUNAK: A house and a Perodua Myvi were destroyed in a fire that broke out early Sunday morning along Jalan Tawau-Kunak, near the checkpoint area. According to a statement from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Center (JBPM), the Kunak Fire Station received an emergency call at 12.22AM via the MERS999 hotline. A team of six firefighters, led by Operations Commander PBK I KUP Kamarulzaman Roslie, was dispatched to the scene, located about 39 kilometres from the Kunak Fire and Rescue Station, with one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle. 'The fire gutted a house and a Perodua Myvi car, which were completely destroyed. 'Firefighting efforts involved one 200-foot hose line with a single stream from the fire engine. The operation was brought under control by 1.05am and was ended at 2.07am,' said in a statement issued by State Fire and Rescue Department on Sunday.
