‘Ignore Me…': Kunal Kamra Reacts After Devendra Fadnavis Calls His Shinde Remark 'Worthless'
Last Updated: Kunal Kamra was replying to Devendra Fadnavis, who earlier today, called the former "worthless" and suggested that he should be "politically ignored." Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who triggered a massive controversy with his recent ' gaddar ' remark directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to 'ignore" him. He further challenged Fadnavis saying that he would be organising his stand-up comedy shows in Maharashtra's Thane, New Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Aurangabad later in October this year, so if he along with Eknath Shinde could 'ignore" him during the shows. Kamra was replying to Fadnavis, who earlier today, called the former 'worthless" and suggested that he should be 'politically ignored." Speaking at an event organised by The Indian Express, Fadnavis remarked, 'I believe politically ignoring such people would be wiser. Inki Aukat Nahi Hai (They are not worth it), by reacting, you only elevate their stature. There's no need to give them that importance… Sometimes, especially in our party and our ally Shiv Sena, we are emotional people. We are not practical politicians. Our emotions often lead to reactions. Because of these reactions, he (Kunal Kamra) gained more attention. Otherwise, not even four people would listen to him." Later, responded sarcastically to Fadnavis' statement on social media. Sharing a clip of the Chief Minister's remarks, he said, 'Hello Devendra Fadnavis, you're right. Politically, it's better to ignore me. I have no 'aukat' & only 4 people watch my show. Please, can I be ignored? In October, I was planning shows in Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, and Aurangabad. Please coordinate with Mr Shinde & his Sena if I can be ignored." Kunal Kamra Row Kamra stoked a row after giving a spin-off to a popular Hindi song in which he took a veiled dig at Shinde, calling him a 'gaddar" (traitor). He allegedly referred to the 2022 Maharashtra political crisis in which Shinde led the collapse of Uddhav Thackeray's state government. Recorded in February, the programme called 'Naya Bharat' was uploaded on Kamra's YouTube channel on March 23, drawing strong reactions from the Shiv Sainiks. Shiv Sena leaders condemned his remarks, demanding an unconditional apology from him. The controversy escalated into violence when Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shinde's Shiv Sena, vandalised the Habitat comedy venue where the show was filmed. Despite having multiple clashes with the BJP-led Centre in the past, the comedian has refused to apologise for his remark but had expressed willingness to cooperate with the police. Three separate cases were filed against the stand-up comedian at Khar police station, with one complaint lodged by the Mayor of Jalgaon city and the other two by a hotelier and a businessman from Nashik, according to the Mumbai Police. For the unversed, Kamra, in 2019 and 2024, contributed to the crowdfunding drive launched by Kanhaiya Kumar, who was then a Congress candidate from northeast Delhi, against the Bharatiya Janata Party's Manoj Tiwari. ANI files defamation case against YouTuber over extortion claims video
Asian News International has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against YouTuber Mohak Mangal for posting an allegedly defamatory video accusing the news agency of extortion and blackmail, Bar and Bench reported on Wednesday. The suit also listed comedian Kunal Kamra and AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair, among others, as defendants for sharing Mangal's video on social media, Live Law reported. The court is expected to hear the matter on Thursday, according to Bar and Bench. In his video titled ' Dear ANI ' uploaded on May 25, Mangal had accused ANI of extortion and blackmail after the news agency initiated copyright strikes against his YouTube channel for using its footage in his material. A copyright strike on YouTube takes place when the copyright owner claims that a video has used their content without permission. YouTube reviews the claim and, if valid, stops the creator from monetising it or removes the video. It also gives the uploader of the video a strike. Receiving three strikes can lead to a channel's termination. Mangal contended in his video on Sunday that he had used the footage under the 'fair use' principle. Fair use is a legal doctrine that is generally understood to allow limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the owner for purposes such as critiques, reviews or teaching. Mangal's video had 5.5 million views as of Wednesday. In its suit, ANI claimed that the video was an attempt to 'discredit and insult' the news agency and the services it provides under its registered trademarks, Bar and Bench reported. Mangal had admitted to using ANI's original copyrighted videos to earn revenue, the news agency was quoted as having claimed in its suit, adding that the YouTuber had published the video filled with defamatory and damaging statements despite this. The suit also alleged that Kamra, Zubair and others who had shared Mangal's video on their social media accounts had 'independently published further false, baseless and malicious statements targeting the plaintiff and its founders'. ANI alleged that the statements were 'devoid of any factual or legal foundation' and were intended to 'malign' the reputation of the news agency in the eyes of the public. The suit sought a permanent and mandatory injunction against Mangal, including directions to take down the video, stop using ANI's trademarks and refrain from publishing or circulating further 'false, misleading or defamatory' content against the news agency, Bar and Bench reported. It also sought similar restraining orders against Kamra, Zubair and others, preventing them from making or sharing defamatory and false statements about ANI.

‘Manhoos, drunkard' Kunal Kamra gets mercilessly roasted by fellow comics: ‘His favourite position is opposition'
Comedian Kunal Kamra is no stranger to controversy; his latest special caused a stir among a certain section of the audience, who took offence to jokes he made about some politicians. They destroyed the venue where the special was shot, and Kamra was hit with several FIRs. The comic splits his time between Himachal Pradesh and Puducherry, and has been put on the no-fly list by several airlines after an altercation that he had with TV journalist Arnab Goswami. He appeared on the latest episode of Ashish Solanki's Roast show on YouTube, where a panel of comics joked about Kamra's edgy comedy, growing 'irrelevance', and his 'saviour' attitude. Kamra was seen laughing along as his friends and colleagues took aim at him in the roast, a format of stand-up comedy where people poke fun at a person, no holds barred. Solanki described Kamra has 'manhoos', citing his appearance on Samay Raina's equally controversial series India's Got Latent. The first comic to take shots at Kamra was Sumaira Shaikh, also implied that he is a drunk. 'Kamra has become a farmer, the first farmer who gives alcohol to his plants,' she joked. 'Saviour ban ke ghoomta hai, Muslim comics and female comics ka. Apne baal toh bacha nahi paaya,' she continued. Sumaira finished her set with another reference at the India's Got Latent controversy. 'Let's send him to jail, would you rather…' Also read – Kunal Kamra says he'd rather 'check into a mental hospital' than do Bigg Boss, shares screenshot of offer The second comic, Shashwat Maheshwari, said that he wishes 'Modi ji would lose just so that Kamra shuts up'. He continued, 'Kamra sunta sabki hai lekin karta Congress ki hai.' He finished with, 'Kamra has been doing political comedy for years, but he has converted nobody. sleeper cells are more active than him. As an aware citizen, I don't want him on my team.' The biggest laugh came for a joke by comic Onkar Yadav, who joked, 'Kamra thinks Latent is Balraj's show, kyunki Kashmiri Pandit toh isse dikhte nahi.' This was another reference at India's Got Latent; the show was filmed at The Habitat, owned by Balraj Ghai, and hosted by Samay Raina, whose Pandit culture is a big part of his artistry. Comic Daahab Chishti took the centrestage next, and shot off a series of jokes: 'Kamra is my favourite comic because I lost my taste after Covid. Kamra's favourite position is opposition. Kamra thinks spanking means lathi charge.' Kamra's childhood friend, Siddharth Dudeja, called him a 'drug addict, drunkard, and cigarette smoker.' He joked, 'They sent murders after him, but even they gave up. They thought let's focus our energy on Ravish, this guy will kill himself with that lifestyle.' The show ended with Kamra taking the centrestage and, as he did in his controversial recent special, held up the Constitution of India. 'Let me say something while I'm still relevant. if anybody has an issue with comedy, you can file a case within the framework of the constitution, and we can respond,' he said.

Comedian Kunal Kamra gets roasted for his political comedy on Aashish Solanki's show, ‘Sunta sabki karta Congress ki'
Kunal Kamra is on the news again for the YouTube roast show, BroCode Roast. In the show hosted by Ashish Solanki, comedian Onkar Yadav made jokes about fellow comedian Kunal Kamra. Yadav poked fun at Kamra for campaigning for Kanhaiya Kumar, calling Kamra a 'contractor' travelling with labourers. Yadav called Kanhaiya a CPI(M) candidate as the communist party was surprised to see a 'fat man' in their party. 'They could not process that the 'contractor' had come along with labourers," the comedian quipped. Before joining Congress, Kanhaiya Kumar was a CPI leader. When Kamra campaigned for Kanhaiya Kumar, a Congress candidate. Kunal Kamra contributed to a crowdfunding campaign to support the Congress candidate, who was fighting the election from northeast Delhi against BJP's Manoj Tiwari. Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was also among the people who donated. Kumar called it people's fight and asked for people's support. Yadav continued his roast of the controversial comedian. 'Kamra sunta sab ki hai, karta Congress ki (Kamra listens to everyone, but follows only what the Congress asks him to do),' he joked. Onkar Yadav continued to roast Kunal Kamra and said, 'Kunal Kamra has been doing political comedy for a long time. But, he hasn't managed to convert anyone yet. Even the sleeper cells are more active.' Yadav also touched upon the controversy around India's Got Latent, where comments by Ranveer Allahabadia and Samay Raina caused trouble. According to Yadav, the show belongs to Balraj Singh Ghai, not Samay Raina. 'Kyunki Kashmiri pandits to ise dikhte nahi (Because Kamra overlooks Kashmiri pandits), Yadav added while referring to the fact that Samay Raina belongs to a Pandit family in Jammu. Onkar Yadav even gifted a lotus to Kunal Kamra. In his comeback roast, Kunal Kamra spoke about Onkar Yadav, 'Looking at him, it feels like it was wrong to remove eggs from mid-day meals.' One social media user shared a clip of the show on Twitter (now X) and wrote, 'When a Roast Show showed Reality.' 'Kamra really agreed to do this show thinking he might become a bit relevant again and that would help him push his propaganda. This guy (On-kar) flipped the script…' wrote another. Another commented, 'That Kashmiri pandit line was epic.'
