2 Liquor Smugglers Caught By Railway Cops In Bihar With Rs 23,000 Worth Of Beer

Last Updated: Two Nalanda youths were caught at Gaya station with liquor worth Rs 23,000, smuggled from UP. RPF seized the stock, intensifying Bihar's crackdown on illegal alcohol trade Two youths from Bihar, living well beyond their apparent means, had been frequently travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by train, each time carrying a suspicious sack. Their secret was finally uncovered at Gaya Junction, where a swift operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to their arrest. The duo, identified as Pankaj Kumar and Kanchan Kumar from Nalanda district, attempted to flee upon spotting RPF personnel on platform number one. However, they were swiftly apprehended after a brief chase. A search of their sack revealed 48 cans of beer and 120 bottles of high-end foreign liquor, with a total estimated street value of Rs 23,000. During interrogation, the two confessed to smuggling liquor from Uttar Pradesh to Nalanda via Gaya, capitalising on Bihar's strict prohibition laws by selling alcohol at inflated prices. They admitted to having engaged in this illegal trade for an extended period. This successful operation marks a significant step in the railway police's ongoing crackdown on liquor smuggling. Authorities confirmed that surveillance at Gaya Junction had been heightened due to reports of suspicious activity. Their vigilance paid off with this high-value seizure. The RPF has stressed that the campaign against smuggling will continue with increased rigour, and investigations are underway to uncover other members of the network. Officials also urged passengers and locals to report any suspicious behaviour at railway stations to ensure continued safety and security.
