SGSITS launches online system for booking campus facilities

Indore: Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) is set to introduce an online facility for booking its campus venues, including the auditorium, ground, and halls, for cultural programmes, conferences, workshops, and other events. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This move will eliminate the need for physical applications and make the booking process more transparent and convenient. The website, named "CampusEase," was developed by three pre-final year students of the IT department—Kanishka Gupta, Krishna Malviya, and Kanishk Singh Jatav—over a period of two months. Once it receives final approval from the institute's director, the platform will be merged with the official SGSITS website and made live. The new system will allow users to check the availability of venues through a calendar feature, submit booking requests, track approval status, make online payments, and receive receipts—all from their homes. The website will also notify users via email about booking confirmations or pending requests. Student developer Kanishka Gupta said the system ensures privacy by encrypting user passwords. According to institute authorities, the auditorium has a seating capacity of 275 and is rented for ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 per day. It is booked at least once a week, accounting for 55 to 60 events annually. The larger hall, with a capacity of around 1,000, is used for both college and administrative events. The campus ground has also recently been made available for rent and is currently used for regular cricket practice. Importantly, SGSITS students and faculty members who book venues will be eligible for a 10–15% rental discount. Head of the IT department, Dr Sunita Verma, confirmed that all booking data will be securely handled. Director Prof Nitesh Purohit lauded the student initiative, emphasising that the project reflects the institute's commitment to digital transformation and student-led innovation.
