Murderers punishing police: BJP slams Congress over top cop's suspension

The Karnataka BJP has strongly condemned the Congress-led state government for suspending Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand, describing the move as an unprecedented attack on the police force. The party posted on X, 'For the first time in the history of Karnataka, cold-blooded murderers are punishing top police officers.'Along with this, they shared an image portraying Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as vampires with blood-red eyes and who was serving as Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, was suspended just one day after a deadly stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed eleven lives and injured several others. The BJP's criticism follows Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's decision to suspend Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand and other senior officers following the stampede during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Indian Premier League victory celebration, jointly organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and DNA Thursday, the Karnataka BJP accused the state government of scapegoating senior police officers to deflect blame over the stadium stampede. Karnataka BJP chief and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa called the government's response 'shameful,' accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of shirking moral responsibility during the tragedy.'It is shameful that while celebrating RCB's victory, the government forgot its moral duty,' Yediyurappa said on X in calm public anger, they have made five police officers, including the Police Commissioner, scapegoats. This is a dark chapter in Karnataka's history,' he also accused the Congress government of trying to pre-empt High Court scrutiny by suspending officials hastily, calling it a 'selfish move to cling to power'. 'If the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister have any morals left, they must resign,' he of Opposition R Ashoka echoed these concerns, questioning the Congress leadership's contradictions. 'Yesterday, DK Shivakumar said police were not responsible. Now Siddaramaiah has suspended the Police Commissioner and other officials. What is going on?' Ashoka also ordered the arrest of RCB, event management, and KSCA officials. A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe has been launched, and a judicial commission is proposed to investigate lapses. IN THIS STORY#Karnataka#Bengaluru
