Former Bahrain Expat Kapil Thampan Tragically Dies in Canada Car Accident
Kapil Ranji Thampan, a 42-year-old former Bahrain resident and talented sound engineer from Maramon, Pathanamthitta in Kerala, India, has tragically passed away in a car accident in Canada.
The accident occurred around 3:30 PM local time on the Caledonia-Hamilton Highway. Although emergency responders rushed him to the hospital, Kapil was declared dead shortly after. Two others involved in the crash were seriously injured and are still being treated in hospital.
Kapil was well-known in Bahrain's radio and music circles. He spent six years at Radio Voice 104.2 FM, Bahrain's first private radio station, where he worked as a sound engineer. Later, he joined Aramco Energy Radio in Saudi Arabia before moving to Canada with his wife and two daughters in pursuit of a new chapter.
Beyond his technical skills, Kapil was also a gifted composer. He created music for popular radio jingles, advertisements, and several music albums. His creativity earned him multiple awards, including a bronze medal from the prestigious New York Radio Awards.
He is survived by his wife Ambili and daughters Lyra and Leora.
His family has announced that his funeral will take place in his hometown in Kerala, India. Friends and former colleagues in Bahrain and abroad have shared their grief, remembering him as a kind, humble, and talented professional who touched many lives with his music and warmth.
