From classroom to cardio for Kardia learners
Kardia House International recently hosted the first event of their Functional Fitness Competition, where they focused on enhancing the physical fitness and mental resilience of learners.

The learners' endurance and teamwork were put to the test.
'The competition was intense and fun. It was a privilege to witness the learners push their physical and mental limits.
The competition was very successful. It is always inspiring to watch the children endure tough challenges and build their confidence,' expressed deputy principal Joy Kruger.
Kardia House not only accept fitness as an extracurricular activity, but they see it as an integral part of the curriculum.
'Recognising the growing concerns about the lack of physical activity among young people, the school has incorporated this discipline into the academic timetable,' she said.
The activity includes a 20 to 40 minute gym class as well as a normal physical education class.
The importance of physical development, along with cognitive growth, is often overlooked.
'Many people believe cognitive development is not in the same class as physical development, but research shows otherwise. For example, the ability to read can be affected if a child lacks rhythm, and poor muscle development can make tasks like writing challenging. Simply put, weak bodies often lead to weak minds,' Joy explained.
She further mentioned that Kardia House aims to bridge this gap by having learners undergo gym sessions weekly.
The next event will take place on October 25.
