Underneath the tied top, she sported a skin-tight white vest which only emphasised her tiny waist. The Sun exclusively reported how Michelle, 62, was down to £20,000 in her company accounts when she agreed to a shock back-from-the-dead return to Albert Square last year. Her character, Cindy Beale, was presumed dead off-camera in 1998. Yet what about the 2024 exits? EastEnders star AXED after eight years – and it's the end of an era

AN EastEnders favourite has been axed after eight years on the soap - bringing an end to one of the show's most high-profile families. Actress Clair Norris - who plays Bernie Taylor in the BBC soap - will be leaving later this year in a dramatic storyline. 3 3 The star has played Bernie, the daughter of controversial Karen Taylor, since the family made their debut in 2017. A source said: 'Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes - it's nothing personal. 'The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn't really a surprise to Clair. 'She was the last Taylor standing and it's time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.' Another insider said: 'Everyone at EastEnders loves Clair but often characters have to leave for new stories to begin, that's the nature of soap. 'Clair will be missed but she will always be part of the EastEnders family.' An EastEnders spokeswoman confirmed the news saying: 'We can confirm that Clair will be leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish her all the best for the future.' With Clair gone, and Felix actor Matthew Morrison also leaving soon as The Sun previously revealed, all traces of the controversial family will be gone. Karen Taylor left last year alongside Mitch and their grandchildren Mia and Mackenzie. Son Keanu was killed off in 2023 in The Six plot, daughter Chantelle was murdered by husband Gray Atkins in 2020, and son Keegan moved to Germany in 2022. EastEnders' Keanu Taylor's body found by his horrified sister Bernie The family of benefits-claiming layabouts were controversial when they arrived in Walford in 2017, with fans being fiercely divided. However, The Sun revealed last week that while the Taylors will soon be gone, the Branning family is getting a boost. EastEnders' 40th anniversary cameos so far With the 40th anniversary of EastEnders coming up, fans are looking forward to some more incredible cameos from iconic faces of Walford's past. But who have we had so far? Tracy-Ann Oberman - Oberman returned as Chrissie Watts, a character she last played nearly two decades ago. Paul Bradley - Bradley returned as Nigel Bates, a character he last played over 25 years ago. Micheal French - French returned as David Wicks, a character he last played two decades ago. Patsy Palmer - Palmer returned as Bianca Jackson, a character she last played in 2019. Ricky Groves - Groves returned as Garry Hobbs, a character who has not been seen since 2009. Cliff Parisi - Parisi returned as Minty Peterson, a character who was last seen on the square in 2010. Ross Kemp - Kemp has returned to play Grant Mitchell, a character he first played in 1990. The BBC has described Kemp's storyline as "explosive". Kemp said it was an "absolute honour" to return to the show. Other aspects of the EastEnders 40th anniversary celebration include: A wedding between fan favorites, A huge explosion at the Queen Vic, and A live interactive episode. Actor Jake Wood is returning to the show as Max Branning after a four year absence. The BBC also accidentally leaked a major spoiler earlier this week that has shown the Queen Vic being put up to auction just weeks after it was rebuilt and reopened after the February explosion.

Soap legend reveals she's secretly had gastric sleeve op as she shows off five stone weight loss

AN EastEnders legend has revealed that she managed to lose five stone thanks to a gastric sleeve operation. Lorraine Stanley, who played Karen Taylor in the BBC One soap, has been flaunting her very slimmed-down figure over the past 12 months following her soap exit. 4 4 4 The acclaimed actress has looked more in-shape than ever after wowing her followers with her glam transformation. Amid speculation on how she ditched the pounds, Lorraine has admitted it was not down to the popular weight loss jab Ozempic, which has become a common practice for aiding successful weight loss quickly. Instead, Lorraine opted for the more traditional gastric sleeve operation in order to lose five stone. After showing off her trim figure once again in a dancing TikTok video, Lorraine was met with a slew of compliments over her weight loss. One inquisitive fan asked to know Lorraine's secret, to which she simply answered back in the comments: "Gastric sleeve." A gastric sleeve is a "a weight loss procedure that removes a significant portion of the stomach, creating a smaller, sleeve-shaped pouch". Up until now, Lorraine had remained coy on how she managed to achieve her newly toned figure. Earlier this month, she was seen flaunting her slimmer waist as she cheered on pals at the London Marathon. She first shocked her followers with her before and after photos after she managed to lost five stone in just the space of a year. Speaking at the time, she said: "What a difference a year makes. She reprised her role a couple of times in 2024 with her last episode hitting the screens in June. Lorraine exclusively told The Sun last year: "At the moment I wouldn't go back, I'm happy doing what I'm doing. "They've left the door open, so never say never." EastEnders star reveals struggle to find work a year after she admitted job hunt was ‘soul destroying'

A FORMER EastEnders star has spoken out about her fight to build her career following her harsh exit from the soap. The actress, who played one of Walford's matriarchs from 2017 to 2024, told fans about her work strife on social media. 4 4 Lorraine Stanley, who portrayed Karen Taylor, was written out of the show in 2023 as part of a shock cast shake-up. The soap star, 48, has been brutally honest about how hard it has been finding work since being axed from the show. She shared a funny photo on her Instagram Stories wearing oversized glasses and pulling a humorous face. The star wrote alongside it: "I didn't get the job, but at least I still got my good looks and sense of humour. "But it's given me some confidence getting back in the room and I did get some good feedback... "So onwards and upwards." Lorraine played downtrodden laundrette worker Karen since 2017. She earned the 2018 British Soap Award for Best Newcomer and the 2019 Inside Soap Award for Funniest Female. But Lorraine previously told The Sun she wouldn't be returning to the BBC soap in a hurry. She admitted: "I'm a busy mum at the moment. I don't plan on doing anymore soaps, once you've done a soap, you've done a soap. I'll never return to EastEnders after brutal axe – even though auditioning for new jobs is soul-destroying, says Lorraine Stanley "At the moment I'm auditioning, I'm just doing self-tapes, which is soul-destroying. It's horrible, I'm so bad at it." Behind the scenes she has embarked on a weight-loss and fitness journey with a total body transformation. The star is now slimmer than ever after showing off her five-stone body makeover. Sharing before and after pictures last year, she told fans that she'd been making "healthy choices". Since leaving the soap, Lorraine has acted alongside other soap legends in gritty British film Departures. She joined Hollyoaks hunk David Tag and Coronation Street 's Kimberly Hart-Simpson in the project. The movie is described as "Shirley Valentine meets LGBTQ Trainspotting". 4 4
