Mysuru: Former MLA and Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj protested against actor
Kamal Haasan
's statement that Kannada originated from Tamil.
The Kannada film industry needs to seriously consider this issue (anti-Kannada remark) and take measures not to release his films.
Even people of the state are demanding an apology from the actor, Nagaraj, founder of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Party, stated.
A case should be filed against Kamal, and politicians and actors need to support this issue. All pro-Kannada organisations will unite for a
Karnataka
bandh. All political parties in Tamil Nadu should condemn this. Writers should now stand in support of Kannada. Not just Shivarajkumar, but all actors should support Kannada, said Vatal Nagaraj.
Meanwhile, Kannada organisations on Monday expressed outrage by burning Kamal's photo for his remarks on Kannada.
Activists from Pathi Foundation and Karnataka Protection Forum expressed their anger against Kamal for his anti-Kannada remark by burning his photo in front of Padma theatre in Agrahara. The activists said Kamal began his film career in Karnataka and grew from here, and is now making political statements against Kannada. Kannadigas will teach him a lesson, they said, demanding a ban on all his films.
The activists also threatened to stage protests against theatre owners if they screen Kamal's films.
