Climate Change Adds More Risks for Pregnancies
Hi it's Karoline in Singapore, where the average temperature last year tied for the warmest on record. This is dangerous for pregnant women. But before I explain ... Global warming is not just about the melting glaciers or the rising sea level. It's also a real health risk.

'MAGA red' and hidden linings: A designer reveals the secrets of Karoline Leavitt's White House fashion
Karoline Leavitt 's elevated position in the Trump administration comes with an elevated wardrobe. The 27-year-old, who interned in the first Trump White House, went on to become the youngest-ever White House press secretary in President Donald Trump 's second non-consecutive term. A member of the president's inner circle, she's become known for clashing with legacy media outlets, highlighting nontraditional "new media" voices such as podcasters and influencers, and commanding the podium with unflappable confidence. One fashion designer in particular often appears on Leavitt's Instagram account with outfits credited in captions like "Another newsy day at the White House!" Christopher Cuozzo, a bespoke menswear designer who recently added womenswear to his brand, has created several custom suits for Leavitt and her husband, 59-year-old real-estate developer Nicholas Riccio. Business Insider spoke with Cuozzo in April about working with Leavitt and designing looks for one of the White House's most visible figures. The White House did not respond to a request for comment. This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity. Let's start with how you first got connected to Karoline. Very organically. Karoline is very friendly with the woman who designed my website. I've been doing custom menswear for a very long time, and rolled out custom womenswear in 2024. The woman who did my website obviously knew that from building out my website. She made the introduction, and I met with Karoline and her husband the day after Thanksgiving. I did quite a few suits, actually, some for him, some for her. They were the nicest, nicest people. Then, when the suits were ready, I shipped them down to DC for them. They absolutely loved them, and both of them have been ordering more ever since. What is the process of creating these pieces? Does she make certain requests for styles or colors, or are you presenting fabrics and ideas? It's a little bit of both. It kind of works this way for a lot of my customers. They come to me with ideas, and what I do is send pictures. What really helps, for both men and women, is to see not just a fabric swatch, but to see a full done-up suit on a model. So, I have a plethora of those photos. I follow trends, so I have to factor what's in. I have to factor in the season. I have to factor in the client's complexion and hair color. And then, I also have to factor in what the client does for a living, because somebody who is an artist versus somebody who's in media are two completely different clients. I've been watching what she wears when it's not my stuff — dresses and jackets — and she's not afraid of color. So, I was like, "What do you think of this emerald green with gold buttons instead of a green button or black?" She was like, "Oh, my god, I love it." So we worked very well together. Typically, a suit or really any garment takes about four to six weeks. Now, there's all these things that go into it that could add a longer time. We do a lot of custom linings where we print the photos onto silk, and then that lining goes inside the suit, and that's going to add approximately two weeks. As you've been designing these suits for Karoline, have you put in any of these hidden details or custom linings? Yes. I'm going off memory here, but I'm pretty confident we did an American flag lining in one of her suits. It's not always visible when you're just looking at photos from press conferences. I know. I've got to get her to flash that jacket open. You mentioned that there's a lot to consider when you're designing suits for people based on their profession. What sort of considerations do you have when you're designing suits for someone like Karoline, who is in such a public and high-pressure role? Very good question. Classic reigns supreme, so you don't want anything trendy. She's a very classy woman, but she's down-to-business, for sure. I don't envision her wanting to do some very loud plaid suit that's a bunch of different colors. As I get to know her a little bit more and watch her and see what she does, I think the classics will usually win, with a twist. When she chose red, I was pleasantly surprised. It's my company color. It's one of my favorite colors. It screams confidence. I was like, "Oh, yeah. This will be awesome." I'm pretty sure that's the one we did the American flag in. She's on the younger side, so she can pull off some of that stuff. There's a long history of ways that clothing can be used to send a message, when people in prominent positions can kind of say something without saying anything. Is that something that you or Karoline think about, what message she's trying to convey with these choices? I always say what you wear speaks before you do. It's kind of a judging-a-book-by-its-cover type situation. But if somebody walks into a room and they're wearing a suit, and that room is full of people who are wearing jeans and T-shirts, well, in my opinion, that suit is going to say, all right, this man or woman means business. This is somebody who's important. Doors start to be held for you. Doors start to be opened for you. How you dress and how you carry yourself says a lot. I do think about that when I'm designing suits for Karoline. It's fun. It's a really fun way to express oneself. If someone were to get a custom suit from you, about how much would that cost? Our woman's suiting starts at $1,495. Our men's suiting starts at $995. It goes up from there based upon quality of fabric. Would you be able to share how much Karoline's suits have cost? I would love to answer all your questions, I really would, but I'm going to keep that between her and me.

Karoline Leavitt shares rare glimpse into family life as husband 32 years her senior cradles son at Mar-A-Lago
Karoline Leavitt has shared a rare glimpse into her family life with a series of sweet snaps over the weekend. The White House Press Secretary, 27, took to Instagram to document her sunny weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, with husband Nicholas Riccio, 59, and their young son Niko. The family spent the weekend at Donald Trump 's Mar-A-Lago and Leavitt captured adorable photos from the occasion. One picture showed the political aide smiling on a green couch while she held her young son, who was dressed in a cute checkered onesie, on her lap. In the second snap, Nicholas - who is 32 years Karoline's senior - also stepped into the frame as the trio posed in front of a pool at sunset. Karoline captured another heartwarming photo of her spouse dressed more informally while cradling Niko and kissing his cheek. And the final picture in her adorable carousel simply alluded to the family relaxing on sun loungers while draped under towels. The mom-of-one captioned the post: 'Weekends in Palm Beach.' Nicholas - who is 32 years Karoline's senior - also stepped into the frame as the trio posed in front of a pool at sunset Karoline has previously addressed her 'very atypical love story' with her husband who is 32 years her senior. The Press Secretary spoke with Megyn Kelly about their romance and how they first met. 'I met my husband during my Congressional Campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,' she detailed in the interview. 'I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.' When The Megyn Kelly Show host asked if there had been any thought in her mind of 'I can't date him, he's 59 and I'm 27?' Karoline confirmed that she had dealt with those initial doubts about how the 32-year age gap would impact the relationship. 'Yes, of course. I mean it's a very atypical love story but he's incredible,' she gushed. 'He is my greatest supporter, he's my best friend and he's my rock.' The political aide continued: 'He's built a very successful business himself so now he's fully supportive of me building my success in my career. 'He's the father of my child and he's the best dad I could ever ask for. And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life.' The pair got engaged in December 2023, with Karoline writing at the time: 'The best Christmas of my life. I get to marry the man of my dreams. I feel SO overwhelmingly BLESSED. Thank you, God.' The pair officially tied the knot in January 2025, days before President Donald Trump's inauguration. They went on to welcome their son on July 10, 2024. Karoline made another appearance with her husband and son during the White House Easter Egg roll hosted by the president in April. Her husband looked age-defying in a tan-colored suit and purple tie, while wheeling their son, who was dressed in baby blue, in a stroller around the South Lawn.

MAGA mommy is five years younger than her son-in-law... can you guess who?
She's a yoga instructor, a mother of two boys and a girl, and a Massachusetts native. This woman is also the mom of a well-known MAGA star and is shockingly younger than her son-in-law - can you guess who it is? It's White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt 's mom, Erin Leavitt. She was born on July 18, 1970, while her daughter's husband, Nicholas Riccio was born in 1965 - leaving a five year age gap between the two. Karoline, 27, married her husband Nicholas, 59, in January after they welcomed their baby boy Niko in July 2024. The youngest press secretary in history is no stranger to the attention her age-gap romance gets, and even admitted last month she has a 'very atypical love story.' It is unclear how her parents feel about her relationship, but they often post pictures to social media depicting a very tight-knit family. While Erin, 54, isn't as active on social media as her husband Bob Leavitt, 65, she did take to Facebook in September honoring her children, including Nicholas. 'Daughters Day.. Sons Day. I Love mine,' she wrote alongside several snaps. Meanwhile, Bob posted an image of his kids, grandchildren, and in-laws on Easter Sunday in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump. 'Happy Easter everyone. Hope you all have a great day,' he wrote. Both he and his wife post about their daughter's accomplishments, especially since she entered her new role. In a post from 2024, Bob revealed he met his wife when he was 30 and she was just a teenager. 'If you see my lovely Wife today wish her a Happy Birthday. 36 birthdays ago today we went out on our first date. We've been side-by-side ever since,' he said. 'Happy Birthday Erin hope you have a wonderful day. I love you!" he wrote alongside a picture of the two together. If our math is right, she was 18 and he was 28 at the time.' Age doesn't appear to be an issue for this family, but faith plays a major role, as both Bob and Erin have passed down their Catholic beliefs and faith to Karoline and her two older brothers Mike and Joe Leavitt. In February, Karoline told the New York Post: 'My Christian faith is a huge part of my life. 'My faith, my marriage, my family life — it's everything to me," she added. Her husband, who is 32 years her senior, is a self-made real estate developer who met his now wife during her congressional career in New Hampshire. Karoline's mother Erin is a yoga instructor at The Hot Yoga Studio. According to the studio's website, she started her yoga career in 2017 and is reiki certified. She holds a degree in human services as well, it added. Karoline's family owns an ice cream Atkinson and her father Bob runs a truck dealership in Plaistow. Just last month, she appeared on the Megyn Kelly show, opening up about how the romance with Nicholas first began. ''I met my husband during my Congressional Campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,' she said. And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life.' The government official noted just how much her partner has had to take on thanks to her current role as she added: 'I say, "I walked into your life and it's been a circus ever since" but God bless him because he's fully on board'. Megyn noted that he is 'Italiano, he's a lover, he's a romantic man', to which Karoline enthusiastically agreed.
