As the report about their achievement reached the district headquarters on Thursday, deputy commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh wished both the girls a bright future.
The girls are residents of remote Jamuniatari, a small village located in the forest area of Chouparan block in Hazaribag district.
The Jharkhand Academic Council released the results of the matriculation examination on Tuesday. This time, the results created many records, with state topper Gitanjali Kumari also from Hazaribag.
The Birhor duo, Kiran Kumari scored 409 marks (about 80%), and Chanva Kumari scored 332 marks (about 66%).
Education department officers said Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya in Chouparan where the two girls studied is not just an educational institution for them but a foundation of dreams, which gave them wings to fly. They have become an inspiration for other girls of the community, they added.
Officials of the education department said they are in touch with the block officials and will ensure that the duo get admission to the school of their choice for intermediate education.

"The Birhor community is a tribal group (PVTG), traditionally known for nomadism and hunting for their livelihood. In recent decades, the govt and the local administration have implemented many schemes to protect their interests and connect them with the mainstream. As a result, there have been significant changes in their lifestyle, with many now taking advantage of modern facilities," said another official from the administration.
