Community concerns grow over 853-home development in Indian Land

Residents of Indian Land are voicing concerns over a proposed development that plans to add 853 new homes near Van Wyck Road and Charlotte Highway. The development, named 'Cresswind,' is proposed by Kolter Group Acquisitions and includes a 55-and-up community with 13 acres designated for general business use. 'I don't think that we have the infrastructure to accommodate that many more homes,' said Freida Thomas, a neighbor concerned about increased traffic congestion. The choice is either deal with it or move.' The proposal includes commitments from the builder for off-site traffic improvements, such as turn lanes on Van Wyck Road and Highway 521 at Henry Harris. A public hearing is scheduled for February 18th, allowing residents to express their thoughts on the development proposal. VIDEO: Ekoke Living holds ribbon cutting at Eastland Yards development site
