Liz Schepers scores OT winner, lifting Frost to second straight Walter Cup title
Two seasons. Two championships. The Minnesota Frost won the PWHL's inaugural title, and now they've officially defended their crown. Liz Schepers scored 12 minutes into yet another overtime session, lifting the Frost to a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Charge on Monday in Game 4 of the PWHL Finals at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., and a 3-1 series victory. Katy Knoll, who scored the game-winner in Game 3, and Klara Hymlarova assisted on Schepers' game-winner. They found Schepers in front of the Ottawa net, and Schepers took two cracks at it, getting a rebound past Charge goalie Gwyneth Philips. Winning two consecutive Walter Cups didn't come easy. The Frost dropped an overtime heartbreaker in Game 1 and fell into a 1-0 series deficit. They barely came away with a Game 2 victory, only tying the game with 16 seconds remaining before coming away victorious in overtime. They won a triple-overtime marathon in Game 3. It once again took overtime on Monday, and once again the Frost came away with the victory. Minnesota is 2 for 2 in championships in two seasons of PWHL existence. The Frost struck first Monday night, taking a 1-0 lead when Kelly Pannek scored 10 minutes, 10 seconds into the second period. The Charge knotted it up when Tereza Vanisova scored 10 minutes, 9 seconds into the third period. But there wasn't much scoring to be had amid a goalie battle between Maddie Rooney and Philips. Rooney stopped 33 of 34 shots, while Philips stopped 36 of 38 for the Charge.

Frost's Fourth Line Making A Significant Impact In PWHL Playoffs
As the Minnesota Frost inch closer to their second Walter Cup title, the team is receiving contributions from every corner of their roster, including their fourth line of Katy Knoll, Liz Schepers and Klárá Hymlárová. In the regular season, Knoll and Hymlárová each totalled only a goal and an assist apiece. Schepers had two goals and six points. The trio had four goals and 10 points in 77 games. In the playoffs to date, the trio, in only 21 combined games have already equalled their regular season total. That included Katy Knoll's triple-overtime winner in game three to give the Frost a 2-1 series lead, and give them two chances to claim their second Walter Cup. 'It's been awesome playing with Liz (Schepers) and Hymla (Klárá Hymlárová) lately and I think we've really gelled well from the end of the season and (in the) playoffs––and we try to just really support each other," Knoll said following game four. "It's a fast-paced game out there and the more that we support each other the more success we're going to have. We know that we have to be gritty and grind in order to get those goals and get those opportunities. I thought all night long we were knocking at the door, and it was just a matter of time before one of us put one in.' After game two, another overtime 2-1 win for the Frost, head coach Ken Klee also acknowledged the impact his fourth line was making. The line was seeing key minutes and responding. 'They've been really strong in the playoffs," said Klee of Schepers, Knoll, and Hymlárová. "They have great depth, and they simplify the game, get pucks deep and they go to work. They know what their job is, they all read off each other well and have good sticks. It's been great for us to have them just to help with our scoring because we need everybody and we know it." Knoll and Hymlárová each have four points this playoff run, with Knoll recording a pair of goals, and Hymlárová scored Minnesota's only goal in game one of the PWHL finals. The contributions of Minnesota's fourth line in the PWHL finals has been crucial given the fact Minnesota's top line of Kendall Coyne Schofield, Taylor Heise, and Michela Cava have yet to record a point in three games. A potentially deciding game four gets underway at 5pm EST on Monday, May 26, which is Memorial Day in the United States.
