Over 3,000 Landmines and Explosives Destroyed in Bab Al-Mandab
The "Masam" project for demining in Yemen successfully destroyed 3,036 landmines and unexploded ordnance in the Bab Al-Mandab region. The operation aimed to secure liberated areas and protect civilians.
According to a statement by the project, the destroyed items included 53 anti-tank mines, 49 anti-personnel mines, 97 various shells, 7 improvised explosive devices, over 2,300 rounds of ammunition, 490 detonators and fuses, 6 Katyucha rockets, 2 other rockets, and 18 different types of bombs.
The "Masam" project continues to clear Yemeni land of mines and remnants of war, having secured over 66 million square meters of land, allowing life to return to wide areas previously threatened by danger.
The efforts come in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi militia's planting of massive quantities of landmines in the parts of Yemen under their control, resulting in thousands of casualties, mostly women and children.
