Day 1 at Firestone Country Club was about surviving the elements.
The sun came out for Day 2 June 20 at the 2025 Kaulig Companies Championship. Some of the PGA Tour Champions' best players took advantage.

New Zealand's Steven Alker, Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez and Tim Petrovic of Austin, Texas, led the field at the end of two rounds, each shooting 5 under.

Thanks to a second straight hot start, Alker was in the lead most of the day. He shot four birdies in the first six holes before cooling off to score a 3-under 67.
"I just think, just good warmups and ready to go out and play," Alker said of his hot starts. "It's hard to keep a score going around here. You get 3 or 4 under and you don't want to push too hard, but at the same time you've to be aggressive and you've got to stay at it."
Petrovic tied for low round of the day at 4 under. He had the most eventful day on course with seven birdies and three bogeys in his round.

"It's playing tough, the rough's up," Petrovic said. "With the rain we had, it's playing really long. Yesterday was almost impossible to break par because the squall came through. Seven birdies today, I'm really pleased with that."
Gonzalez stayed on the lead with a 2-under round of 68.
Just behind the tournament leaders lurked the Champions tour leader, Miguel Angel Jiménez, who also shot a 66 and was at 4 under for the tournament.
"Well, I feel good," Jiménez said. "I make five birdies today. Overall, played very well. I feel very good for the weekend."
Round 3 of the tournament will begin at 11:20 a.m. June 21.

Heading into Round 3, Tim Petrovic, Steven Alken and Ricardo Gonzalez will share the lead 5 under (135) for the tournament.

Following his lead in the first round, Argentina's Ricardo Gonazalez remain on top through two rounds at Firestone Country Club.
Gonzalez finished with a 2-under round of 68, making him 5 under for the tournament and tying him with Steve Alker and Tim Petrovic for the lead.

Tim Petrovic had the wildest round of anyone in the tournament, shooting seven birdies and three bogeyes, but his roller coaster has landed in a tie for the lead.

Miguel Angel Jiménez finishes one stroke off lead at Kaulig Companies Championship
Champions Tour leader Miguel Angel Jiménez will be in contention again over the weekend.
Despite a bogey on the 17th hole, Jiménez came home 4 under for both the tournament and the day wit ha score of 66.
Steven Alken finishes with lead at Kaulig Companies Championship
New Zealand's Steve Alken has been in front most of Day 2. He enters the clubhouse with the lead.
Alken scored par on the ninth hole to complete a 3-under round of 67. He finished the second round at 5 under for the tournament and should be in the lead trio for round 3.

Jiménez tames 16, joins leader at Kaulig Companies Championship
Hole 16, known as "The Monster," proved no obstacle to the Miguel Angel Jiménez.

The Spaniard birdied the longest hole on the course to move to 5 under. He is tied from the lead with Steve Alker, who is playing his final hole.

Tim Petrovic's wild round continues, as he carder his second straight birdie and sixth of the round at the par 5 second hole. Petrovic finds himself tied for the lead at 5 under with Steven Alken and Ricardo Gonzalez.

Steve Alker continues to sizzle, much like the rising temperatures at Firestone Country Club.
Thanks to a birdie on hole No. 2, combined with a bogey from Ricardo Gonazalez on hole No. 8, Alker has regained a two-stroke lead. He is now 6 under for the tournament and 4 under for his round through 11 holes.

Much like his first round, New Zealand's Steve Alken is having a storming front nine at Firestone Country Club.
Alken birdied two of his first four holes and has retaken the lead at 4 under through four holes.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Gonzalez also has started well. He birdies the par 5 second hole to move to 4-under and tie for the lead.

Round 1 co-leader Ricardo Gonzalez teed off from hole No. 1 with the 11:52 trio, which included David Toms and David Duval. Gonzalez sits at 3 under to open the second round.

There has already been movement atop the leaderboard next to Gonzalez. Steve Alken birdies his first hole to move to 3 under and tied for the lead, while Søren Kjeldsen bogeyed his second hole and dropped to 2 under.

As far the leaders after round 1, Søren Kjeldsen will tee off at 11:21 a.m. from hole No. 10, while Ricardo Gonzalez will start at 11:52 a.m. from hole No. 1.
Weather update for Day 2 of the Kaulig Companies Championship
After all the weather issues during round 1, Day 2 looks to be just about perfect for golf weather-wise.
Sunny conditions and light wind will prevail for most of the day. Temperatures are in the mid 70s and will rise to the low 80s by afternoon. It is going to become hotter and muggy as the weekend continues.

Day 2 begins at 11 a.m. with trios teeing off from holes No. 1 and 10. Alex Cejka, Richard Green and Steve Allan will open play from tee No. 1, and Brett Quigley, Shane Bertsch and Steve Flesch will open from tee No. 10.

The South Course at Firestone will play as a par 70 with a total distance of 7,248 yards.
Tape delay coverage of Round 2 will be broadcast on Golf Channel at 9 p.m.

Kjeldsen, 50, is a rookie on the Champions tour. He seeks his first Champions tour title in just his fourth event, having finished top 10 in his first three starts. This is his first appearance at Firestone since the 2016 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Gonzalez, 55, seeks his second Champions tour win and first major title, as he won the 2024 Trophy Hassan II. The Argentine tied for 40th at last year's Kaulig Companies Championship.
