CSPD arrests man in carjacking case on South Academy
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that on Friday, May 9, officers responded to a report of a carjacking in progress on South Academy Boulevard near Airport Road, in which a man was reported to have assaulted a victim and stolen their keys and car.
According to CSPD, when officers arrived, the suspect had already left the location in the 600 block of Academy. Several minutes later, officers found the vehicle at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Union Boulevard, near Memorial Park.
CSPD reported that officers found the man, later identified as 34-year-old Kavon McDade, after he had forced his way into one of the buildings. McDade was taken into custody and charged with Motor Vehicle Theft and Robbery.
