Students oriented towards higher educational options under ‘Kalloori Kanavu' scheme
Around 2,000 students who had completed their Class XII exams were oriented to higher education options under the Kalloori Kanavu scheme of the State government on Wednesday.
'Last year, over 90 per cent of students who passed their Class XII exams enrolled in higher education. This year, we aim for an even higher percentage,' stated Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar during an event held at Hindustan Arts and Science College in the city. The Collector distributed handbooks containing detailed guidelines for choosing among engineering, medicine, agriculture or other courses among the students.
At the venue were stalls by 41 colleges showcasing the variety of higher educational opportunities available. A special camp was also held to help students obtain essential documents, including income certificates, caste certificates, first-generation graduation certificates, and to update Aadhaar details.
The orientation programme will also be conducted at NGM College, Pollachi; R.V. Arts and Science College, Karamadai; Karpagam Institutions, Eachaneri; and the Smart City Experience Centre of Coimbatore Corporation at Ukkadam.
In Tiruppur district, Minister for Human Resource Management Kayalvizhi Selvaraj and District Collector T. Christuraj handed over the higher education handbook to students as part of the same initiative.
