President Xi Jinping arrives in Kazakhstan for 2nd China-Central Asia Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping received a grand welcome in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, as he arrived for the second China-Central Asia Summit. Image: Screenshot / CGTN Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the Kazakh capital, Astana, on Monday for the second China-Central Asia Summit. Kazakh Air Force fighter jets took off to escort Xi's plane after it entered the country's airspace. Upon arrival at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana, President Xi was welcomed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and other senior officials, including Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu. A young Kazakh woman presented Xi with flowers. Kazakh honor guards lined up on both sides of the blue carpet to pay their respects.
