Woman playing lottery with friends sees jackpot reset — then checks her ticket
Attracted to the six-figure jackpot, a Michigan woman bought a Club Keno ticket with an add-on at a bar with friends.
She was surprised when, shortly after receiving her numbers, she saw the $412,171 jackpot reset to $10,000.
'We were with a group of people, and they scanned their tickets first. I scanned mine last, and there it was – $412,171!' Donna Keathley told lottery officials in a June 9 news release.
The woman from Evart was hit the jackpot at Murphy's Bar in Barryton, officials said. She purchased a $1 add-on 'The Jack' game after seeing the large jackpot.
'It was shocking and pretty surreal because I'm usually not very lucky,' the winner said.
Keathley plans to pay her bills with her winnings, then save the rest.
'The Jack' is a $1 add-on to Club Keno, according to Michigan lottery. The add-on allows players to get nine numbers in an attempt to match the Club Keno numbers drawn.
'The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won,' officials said. 'To win the jackpot, players must match all nine numbers.'
Barryton is about a 15-mile drive southeast from Evart and about a 185-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
