Live updates: Day 1 action at the Minnesota Boys Hockey Tournament
The 2025 Minnesota Boys Hockey Tournament is in progress at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, with Class A teams taking the ice Wednesday, followed by the Class AA quarterfinals on Thursday.
Both classes will participate in the semifinals on Friday, and the state championship games will be played Saturday. Let's go through the action so far today...
The first game of the tournament featured the No. 2-seed Crusaders of St. Cloud Cathedral take down No. 7 Mahtomedi in shutout fashion. Keaton LeGrande stopped all 24 shots that came towards his net and the Crusaders were powered offensively by Joey Gillepsi's two goals and Mr. Hockey finalist John Hirschfield's two assists.
Freshman Bo Schmidt, who had a game-high seven shots on goal, also scored for Cathedral.
