Police said the road remained closed in both directions from Light Lane to Fynford Road and advised people to avoid the area. It added that it was in "close contact" with the girl's family and the nearby school as the investigation continued. Parents of boy killed in crash meet ambassador

The parents of a 12-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run crash have said they are feeling "very positive" after meeting with the ambassador for Latvia. Keaton Slater died after being hit by a black BMW in Coventry on 14 June last year. Dolars Aleksanders, who was born in Latvia but is a UK resident, is wanted by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and officers believe he is currently in Latvia. The Latvian ambassador, Atis Lots, declined to speak to the BBC, and in a statement the Latvian embassy said it could not provide any comment or details on the "tragic case" because of its ongoing and sensitive nature. Louise Slater said after the meeting: "It was more of us talking to them because we have so many questions that we want answering, but they tried to be empathetic. "They listened to us and they were supportive," she added. The MP for Coventry North West, Taiwo Owatemi, has previously asked for Mr Aleksanders to be extradited. Clint Slater said of Thursday's meeting: "It's made us feel a bit better, because at least we know something is still happening. "We can never bring him back but we just want justice for everyone that knew him," added Mrs Slater. Follow BBC Coventry & Warwickshire on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
