Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight talks Blues at Wembley
Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight recalled his tears at Birmingham City's last win at Wembley Stadium, ahead of their return for the Vertu Trophy Blues fan told the BBC he is prepared for more tears when the team play against Peterborough United on Sunday. "I don't care what the trophy is. There'll be 50,000 of us singing 'Keep Right On' - it'll be fantastic", he said. Birmingham City will try to follow their recent promotion to the Championship with another historic win.
Knight also spoke about his first trip to St. Andrew's stadium in 1966. "I remember it vividly, it was Birmingham vs Carlisle and there was snow on the ground."I went with my dad, brothers, uncle and cousins. I remember my dad saying when the Carlisle player was taking a throw-in to throw a snowball at him", he screenwriter told the BBC his Blue's hero was Barry Bridges who joined the team in 1966. Speaking on Birmingham City's return to Wembley on Sunday, he recalled the last time the team played there in 2011 when they won the Carling Cup against Arsenal."I was with two of my sons who were quite young. When Obafemi Martins put the ball in - I said they were going to equalise."It was two minutes to go and it was plenty of time. But when the final whistle went. I was in tears."This will be the same. I always lose my voice for about a week after."
