From Roja to Thug Life - bass guitarist Keith Peters on working with A.R. Rahman
Acclaimed bass guitarist Keith Peters is a formidable name in Indian film music, best known for his work and collaboration with A.R. Rahman for over three decades, beginning with 'Roja'. A largely self-taught musician who comes from a musically inclined family, Mr. Peters has played for many other film music composers, too, across languages. In this episode, the Chennai-based musician talks to us about his journey from Adyar Park hotel to A.R. Rahman's studio, the process of working with the composer, the technique involved in playing the bass guitar, and what the instrument brings to a song.
