Fruit and Food Mela in Shivamogga evokes good response
Shivamogga The three-day Fruit and Food Mela organised by the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra on the campus of Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences received a good response on Sunday. Hundreds of people from Shivamogga and neighbouring districts visited the exhibition-cum-sale. The university has organised the event to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. It has exhibited different varieties of fruits and food items sourced from different parts of the State. The visitors had an opportunity to interact with growers and learn about different varieties of fruits. They also purchased fruits. The stalls that sold mangoes had a good number of visitors. Similarly, the stalls with food items also attracted crowds. The university conducted technical sessions on terrace gardening and bonsai cultivation. The mela concluded on Monday.

Three-day fruit and food mela in ICAR-KVK from April 26
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences in Shivamogga will hold a three-day Fruit and Food Mela from Saturday, April 26, to mark its silver jubilee. R.C. Jagadeesha, Vice-Chancellor of the university, in a press conference in Shivamogga on Wednesday, said that the KVK on the university campus had been serving the needs of the farming community in the last 25 years. To mark the occasion, the university would hold the Fruit and Food Mela on the university college campus at Navule. The exhibition-cum-sale would be open for the public between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on all three days. The mela would include an exhibition of different varieties of mango, jackfruit, banana, and other fruits. The growers from different parts of the State would take part in the event. Similarly, there would be an exhibition of many food products and value-added products. People from Hubballi, Davanagere and other places would set up stalls to offer special cuisine from their places. The event would include technical sessions and competitions for the participants. University Registrar K.C. Shashidhar and College Dean D. Thippesh were present.
