Over 200 5G Transmission Sites Developed In Kelantan
KOTA BHARU, April 22 (Bernama) -- A total of 232 5G transmission towers have been developed in Kelantan, providing 67 per cent coverage in populated areas as of January 31 this year.
State Education, Higher Education, Green Technology, Digital and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Wan Roslan Wan Hamat said this was to ensure that residents could enjoy good 5G coverage from time to time.
He said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) together with telecommunications service providers would always discuss, plan and implement improvement measures.
"This year, the state government has approved the construction of seven telecommunications towers, including in the Gua Musang subdistrict.
"Among the steps taken are adding new locations for telecommunications towers, upgrading or increasing network capacity, conducting periodic tests and inspections of existing networks," he said.
He was replying to a question by Wan Rohimi Wan Daud (PAS-Melor) on the state government's moves in helping to provide a fibre optic line (highway) at the State Legislative Assembly sitting at Kota Darulnaim Complex today.
Explaining further, Wan Roslan said that to encourage telecommunications infrastructure development projects in Kelantan, the state government has considered several incentives to ensure increased network accessibility for the people of Kelantan.
"It has also prepared a fibre optic connectivity plan (Kelantan Fiberization Connectivity Plan) to ensure that efforts to increase communication and high-speed internet coverage can be expanded to industrial and commercial areas as well as educational centres, namely schools and educational institutions higher education (IPT).
