Volunteer Pay's It 4Ward at Tuttle Thrift Store
TUTTLE, Okla. (KFOR) — Tuttle is a small town with a big heart and an open-door policy of giving back. That's been happening at the Tuttle Methodist Community Thrift Store for decades. It's an all-volunteer operation headed up by a woman named Kelly Baker. First Fidelity Bank is glad she is being honored. 'We are just so excited to present $400 today to Kelly Baker for all that she does for the thrift shop and the community in Tuttle,' says Caitlin Melgar with First Fidelity Bank. 'She's been running the thrift store for about 30 years as a complete volunteer. She meets people at the store so they can get their donations, she and her husband do a great job, but she is in charge of the thrift store,' said Susan Buckingham, a friend of Kelly who nominated her. PAY IT 4WARD: Former gang member mentors kids with free boxing lessons It's a tight squeeze as we head into the thrift store because they are always packed with donations. 'I'm looking for Kelly. I'm Kent Ogle from Channel Four, and we have a program called Pay it Forward. Maybe you've seen it before. You've been nominated by Susan for running the thrift store here.' 'We just think a lot of ya' says Susan. 'Yes, we do. So, from First Fidelity Bank and News 4, we'd like to pay it forward.' 'I like helping people, and this store helps a lot of people,' says Kelly. 'Everything in here is donated and all the people that work it are volunteers. There are more people that need help than what you would imagine.'
