LeBron James is first pro athlete with his own Ken doll
NEW YORK, N.Y. (WSAV) — LeBron James is many things: star athlete, entrepreneur, author and actor, just to name a few. And now he can add Ken doll to that list of achievements.
Toy company, Mattle, announced today that James will be the first professional athlete to get his own Ken doll as part of the 'Kenbassadors.'In a press release, James said, 'As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me but also showed me what's possible through hard work and dedication. Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to. That's why partnering with Barbie to release the LeBron James Kenbassadors doll is such an honor. It's an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of role models who instill confidence, inspire dreams, and show kids that they, too, can achieve greatness.'
The LeBron James doll hits store shelves April 14. The cost is $75 per doll. They will be available at Target stores and online at Target, Amazon, Walmart and Matel Creations. Mattel will donate a copy of James' children's book, 'I Am More Than,' to Save The Children for every doll sold at Target and from April 14 through 19, up to 5,000 copies.
Ken, Barbie's longtime boyfriend, will celebrate his 65th anniversary in 2026.
