4-star LB Kenneth Goodwin puts Oregon Football among top schools

4-star LB Kenneth Goodwin puts Oregon Football among top schools Dan Lanning has had a lot of success with linebackers in his coaching career, and it looks like he's honing in on one of the next talented players at that position for the Oregon Ducks. Over the weekend, 4-star LB Kenneth Goodwin announced that he is down to five schools in his recruitment. The Ducks made the cut alongside the SMU Mustangs, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Texas A&M Aggies. Goodwin is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 248 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 16 linebacker. He stands at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds from Bishop Montgomery in California. Goodwin is also scheduled to take an official visit to Oregon on June 20 this summer. At the moment, the Ducks have the No. 18 class in the 2026 cycle, with a pair of 5-star players in TE Kendre Harrison and EDGE Richard Wesley committed. They are also in a good spot to land 5-star QB Ryder Lyons and 5-star OT Imanuel Iheanacho. 4-star LB Kenneth Goodwin narrows to Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, SMU for 2026

4-star LB Kenneth Goodwin narrows to Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, SMU for 2026 A week from now, Michigan football will start a month-long slate of official visitors coming to Ann Arbor, and many of them are highly sought-after prospects by much of the bigger schools within college football. Though May 30 will commence the weekend visits, some visitors who will be visiting in June are starting to trim their lists in advance of their trips, along with setting commitment dates. So, on June 13, when the Wolverines host 2026 Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery four-star linebacker Kenneth Goodwin III, they'll have to make the most of their opportunity over those three days -- especially considering their competition. Goodwin's top group and commitment date set On Saturday, Goodwin officially narrowed his list of suitors to just five schools, including Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, and SMU. He's set to officially visit four of the five, with the Aggies being the only school not getting an official in the upcoming month. Georgia is currently the leader, per On3's Steve Wiltfong, but Michigan isn't too far behind. Thus, it'll be incumbent upon the Wolverines to make a strong impression for Goodwin on June 13. He'll be visiting Athens the week before and Eugene the week after. Goodwin is set to make his decision in just over a month, on July 1. Scouting report The scouting report via 247Sports: First saw at the National Preps Camp last year (2/4/23) where he earned LB MVP honors. Measured in at 6-1, 205 pounds with a 75' wing span and his , 4.68-40 was among the best of all the linebackers. Size wise, he's sort of a hybrid safety/linebacker but has a ton of positional versatility and makes plays all over the field. He's an inside/outside guy, physical in run support, can deliver a blow and is quick around the edge as a pass rusher. He's comfortable in space, natural cover guy and can run down plays from behind. Smart player as well, understands the game, reads and reacts quickly and is always around the football. Easy national recruit with the talent to play at the high Power 4 level. Both On3 and 247Sports, via their proprietary rankings, have Goodwin as a three-star, but the composite and industry rankings have him as a four-star. He's ranked highest on ESPN, where he's the No. 132 player overall, regardless of position. Goodwin has been to Ann Arbor three times, but he's been to Athens more than anywhere else, with this upcoming visit being his seventh to see the Bulldogs.

Washington makes top 12 for four-star 2026 LB Kenneth Goodwin

On Tuesday afternoon, four-star linebacker Kenneth Goodwin, a 2026 product of Narbonne High School in Southern California, cut his list of 23 offers down to 12, including Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect, who is ranked as the nation's No. 191 overall prospect and No. 15 player at his position by the 247Sports Composite, is also considering Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas on his list. On the field, he's a strong fit for what linebackers coach Robert Bala is looking for. 'Size-wise, he's sort of a hybrid safety/linebacker but has a ton of positional versatility and makes plays all over the field,' 247Sports' Greg Biggins said in his evaluation. 'He's an inside/outside guy, physical in run support, can deliver a blow, and is quick around the edge as a pass rusher. He's comfortable in space, a natural cover guy, and can run down plays from behind. [He's a] smart player as well, understands the game, reads and reacts quickly, and is always around the football.' Bala has already secured one pledge in the 2026 class, when three-star in-state product Wassie Lugolobi announced his commitment to stay home in November, and will most likely be looking for at least one or two more players at the position after bringing in three linebackers during the 2025 cycle.
