Boxing: Champion Teraji to face Sandoval in world title tripleheader
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- WBC and WBA flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji will take on Ricardo Sandoval of the United States in a world title tripleheader in July, the organizers said Wednesday.
Teraji, 25-1 in his career with 16 knockout wins, will fight on July 30 at Yokohama Buntai against Sandoval, ranked fourth and third respectively by the two bodies. The challenger has a 26-2 record with 18 KO wins.
Daigo Higa will look to dethrone American champion Antonio Vargas in the WBA bantamweight, while Kyosuke Takami, ranked first in the WBA light flyweight, will face champion Erick Rosa of the Dominican Republic.
