2 additional jewelry scams reported on the same day in Tukwila
The Tukwila Police Department is reminding the public to be vigilant after two additional cases of a specific jewelry theft were reported. Earlier this month, police in Tukwila and Kent put out warnings for a series of robberies, particularly targeting members of the Asian community. According to police, most of the incidents happened outside of Kent, but they were still close enough to have the department put folks on alert. During the crimes, the suspects have approached victims in a seemingly friendly manner. They often engage in small talk, ask for directions, or offer gifts such as money or jewelry, Kent PD said. According to police, in some cases, suspects have asked to pray with the victim, during which they may place fake jewelry or a towel around the victim's neck. 'They discreetly and forcibly remove the victim's real jewelry, sometimes without the victim noticing until later. In more serious cases, suspects have threatened or used violence, including the display of knives,' Kent PD wrote. The suspects are described as both a man and a woman, often appearing to be of Middle Eastern descent and estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old. Kent Police say these incidents have been reported at the Great Wall Shopping Mall and the Hong Kong Market in Burien. These two recent incidents happened on Wednesday near S 180th Street in Tukwila. What You Can Do to Stay Safe: Be aware of your surroundings at all times Shop with a friend or family member, especially in locations where incidents have occurred Avoid wearing visible or expensive jewelry in public, particularly in the areas mentioned above. Report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement immediately. If you have any information about these incidents, contact the Kent Police Department KPDTipLine@ OR call our tip line @ 253-856-5808. If you have been a victim of this crime in the past and have not made a report, call 911 OR the non-emergency police dispatch line 253-852-2121.

POLICE: Armed suspects in stolen car arrested in Kent
Kent police arrested two suspects in a stolen car following a police chase on Monday. According to Kent PD, an officer was on a routine patrol at an apartment complex near Kent Meridian High School when he spotted a stolen 2014 Kia Sorrento. The officer tried to stop the car, which resulted in the suspect driver, a 36-year-old Seattle man, pulling an abrupt U-turn and heading for the exit. While trying to escape, the suspect hit the front of the patrol car and gave the officer a 'perfect up-close view' of his face. Kent officers 'flooded' the area as the stolen Kia got trapped in landscaping, causing the suspect and his passenger to run. The passenger, a 44-year-old Kent woman, was quickly arrested. Police say the suspect tried to blend in with a forming crowd of residents trying to see what was happening, forgetting the officer had already gotten a clear view of his face. Alongside witnesses and evidence placing him in the car, the officer who spotted the suspect was able to confirm his involvement and make an arrest. A gun was found in the Kia, and the suspect was reportedly booked into jail for felony eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm (felon possessing a firearm), and alteration of identifying marks (for alteration of the firearm's serial number). Kent PD added that the passenger was determined to be currently under Department of Corrections (DOC) supervision for previous crimes. DOC arrested her for violating the conditions of her release and searched her residence, finding a pump action 12-gauge shotgun and a bag of meth. DOC will be handling those charges, and she will also be charged in Kent with vehicle trespass, as she was knowingly riding in a stolen vehicle. Kent police track down, arrest motorcyclist who chased and shot at teen driver
Kent police tracked down a motorcyclist who allegedly chased and shot at a 16-year-old driver over the weekend. According to Kent PD, officers responded to a drive-by shooting along 34th Avenue South near West Fenwick Park on Saturday, April 12, around 11:30 p.m. The victim driver, a 16-year-old Kent teen, told officers that he was driving home when he noticed a motorcycle pass him going in the opposite direction. 'The victim watched the motorcycle pull a U-turn and follow him as he parked near his house. The suspect stopped near him and pointed a handgun with a laser on it at the victim's car. Fearing for his life, the victim quickly backed out of his parking spot and went north on Military. The suspect followed, fired 3-5 shots at him, striking his vehicle, and then fled on Military. The victim was fortunately not injured. It was later determined that bullets also struck a neighbor's home, and a different neighbor's vehicle,' read the statement from Kent police. Multiple officers, including Washington State Patrol air support plane 'Smokey', joined Kent PD to help search for the suspect. Smokey spotted and tracked the suspect to 116th Avenue Southeast, where the suspect reportedly dropped the motorcycle and tried to run. The suspect was then tracked as he ran down a trail and tried to hide in a wooded area. Kent officers set up a protective perimeter around the area to prevent the suspect from running further into nearby neighborhoods. Alongside K9 officers, Kent police found and arrested the 38-year-old Kent man without further incident. Kent police confirmed they found the suspect's distinctive helmet and a handgun, a semi-automatic 45, near the arrest site. The suspect was booked into jail for first-degree assault, and the motorcycle, which was registered to him, was towed.

Dead-end, dog & drone lead to arrest of 3 masked teens in Kent
The Kent Police Department says a dead-end road, a dog, and a drone helped them track down three teens who stole a car in Tukwila. According to the department, an officer on routine patrol spotted the group, wearing masks and trying to put a bicycle into the trunk of a Kia. Police say the three were startled when they noticed the patrol car, dropping the bike and driving off with the trunk still open. 'Their behavior seemed just a tad bit suspicious,' noted the release from police. The officer ran the license plate, confirming the Kia was stolen. The department says its officer followed the car until the driver, who happened to be 14, hit a dead-end. The officer then pinned the Kia to the curb, and the three teens scattered. Kent police says the driver quickly jumped out of the bushes as soon as he saw their K9. Neighbors called 911 after spotting the two passengers, both 16-year-old boys, running through their yards. Officers say they tracked down the 'winded' teens on a nearby trail using a drone and arrested them without incident as well. According to Kent PD, an officer recognized one of the 16-year-olds from an arrest earlier in the week, also involving a stolen car. The 14-year-old driver was booked into the King County Youth Center for eluding and possessing a stolen car, while charges on the two passengers are pending and will be based on the results of fingerprints pulled from the stolen Kia.
