Arsenal make Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga main goalkeeper target
Arsenal have made Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga their main target as they seek to recruit a backup goalkeeper this summer. With Neto returning to Bournemouth after his loan, Arsenal are light on experienced goalkeeper options. After missing out on Espanyol's Joan Garcia, who looks poised to join Barcelona, Arsenal are turning their attention towards the 30-year-old. While other options remain under consideration, Arrizabalaga is currently the preferred candidate. Advertisement The Spain international, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, has a £5million release clause in his Chelsea contract. Arsenal see that as a potential market opportunity, enabling them to recruit a goalkeeper with Premier League and Champions League experience for an affordable fee. Arsenal are actively pursuing an agreement with the player and hope to persuade Arrizabalaga to join. Arrizabalaga made 35 appearances in all competitions and kept nine clean sheets last season as Andoni Iraola's side finished ninth in the Premier League, their joint-best league finish with their most points (56). The 13-time Spain international joined Chelsea from Athletic Club for £71.6 million in the summer of 2018 and has made 163 first-team appearances for the English club, where he has won four trophies including the 2021 Champions League. Arsenal's staff are long-time admirers of Arrizabalaga, and this is not the first time his name has been raised in recruitment conversations at the club. The affordable price means Arrizabalaga is expected to have various options this summer. One complication for Arsenal is that they already have an established number one in 29-year-old David Raya. Arrizabalaga is aware that Raya is in a secure position as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper after a strong performance in 2024-25. Despite this, Arrizabalaga is still prepared to give Arsenal's approach consideration. ()

Revealed: The staggeringly low release clause for Chelsea outcast as Arsenal weigh up potential move - with Blues set to take major hit on forgotten star
Arsenal have been informed of a £5million release clause for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who cost the club £72m in 2018. The 30-year-old spent the season on loan with Bournemouth and kept eight clean sheets in his 31 appearances in the Premier League. Despite impressing during his stint at Vitality Stadium, the stopper remains surplus to requirements and the Blues could look to move him on permanently this summer. The £72m splashed out to snap him up from Athletic Bilbao represented a world record fee for a goalkeeper and Chelsea are braced to take a significant hit. Indeed, should Arsenal decide to trigger the bargain release clause in his contract, Kepa would move on for a fee 14 times less than his initial move to Chelsea. Last in action for his parent club in 2023, Kepa will see his current deal run down in 2026. He was also sent out on loan to Real Madrid in 2023, making 14 appearances. Arsenal are on the hunt for a new No 2 to provide back-up to David Raya, who won the top-flight's Golden Glove for a second consecutive season. Kepa has played 163 times for Chelsea to date, keeping 59 clean sheets. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has expressed an interest in keeping Kepa at the club but indicated a final decision has not been made. 'I think it is a matter of negotiating with Kepa himself and with Chelsea,' said Iraola. 'I think both sides are very happy with his loan spell. 'I think he has performed really well, and his character and experience have been very valuable for us. In a really young team, to have someone with his experience of fighting regularly for titles has been really lovely. 'But we still have Neto, [Mark] Travers and [Alex] Paulsen, so we will see in pre-season what decisions we take. There will definitely be changes in that position.' Bournemouth stopper Neto, 35, spent last season on loan at Arsenal but will return to his parent side after making just one appearance. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in advanced talks with Matteo Tognozzi over a senior recruitment role following the departure of Jason Ayto.

Arsenal 'considering' bargain transfer for forgotten Chelsea record breaker
Arsenal are considering a summer move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who has just returned from his Bournemouth loan spell and is available in a cut-price deal Arsenal are weighing up a potential move for Kepa Arrizabalaga - who could end his Chelsea stint for a minimal fee after his loan spell away at Bournemouth. Kepa helped the Cherries post an impressive ninth place finish in the Premier League, but his time with the Blues has looked over for several years. They've continued to loan him out, first to Real Madrid and then to Bournemouth as he eyes a new permanent home. Sky in Italy report that a release clause in his contract could make him available for just £5million and Arsenal are considering raiding their London rivals. David Raya is the clear No 1 at the Emirates but beyond him there is no obvious understudy. Last term the likes of Neto and youngster Jack Porter deputised for Raya in the Carabao Cup, but Kepa could bring plenty of experience to north London and bolster Arsenal's goalkeeping ranks. The player himself previously claimed showdown talks were scheduled to decide on his next move. He said: 'Obviously what I can say is that I'm really happy and I'm enjoying my playing time here. I think I'm showing that and I'm feeling well on the pitch. "It's not the time to think about the future, we're going to take the decision, we're in touch with everybody and now I'm under contract with Chelsea. We have some conversations to have, they will happen in the next few weeks and then we'll decide.' It would mark the end of an underwhelming spell at Chelsea for the Spaniard who remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history. He moved from Athletic Bilbao to Stamford Bridge in 2018 for just over £70million but ultimately couldn't deliver on that mammoth fee. He claimed numerous European honours with the Blues, but was only a substitute for the Champions League success back in 2021. Months later Kepa did come off the bench in the 119th minute to help Chelsea win the UEFA Super Cup on penalties. The Blues themselves could well change their goalkeeping landscape this summer. Currently Enzo Maresca has Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Djordje Petrovic at his disposal, but neither of them have been able to make the position their own. As a result the Blues have begun pursuing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who could leave for just £25m this month, as discussions are held. The 29-year old has one year left on contract and previously played for PSG and Lille before joining Milan, who only have him tied down on a deal until 2026.

Arsenal considering shock transfer for Kepa with Chelsea's record keeper available for peanuts
ARSENAL are considering a shock move to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to reports. Kepa, 30, spent this season on loan with Bournemouth, where he kept eight clean sheets in 31 Premier League appearances. 3 The Spanish shot-stopper is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, who signed him for £72million in 2018 - a record fee for a goalkeeper. But his time with The Blues didn't go to plan and Kepa has since been on loan with Bournemouth and Real Madrid, last playing for Chelsea in 2023. It now looks like a permanent exit is on the cards after Sky Sports revealed that Arsenal are interested in signing Kepa to provide backup for David Raya. Kepa is thought to be available for just £5MILLION thanks to a release clause in his contract that was agreed prior to his loan move to the Cherries last summer. Should the Gunners convince Kepa to jump ship to North London, they would be securing his services for over 14 TIMES less than Chelsea payed for him at first. Kepa's current contract with Chelsea expires in 2026. Bournemouth keeper Neto spent last season on loan with Arsenal, making just one appearance across the entire campaign. Arsenal had been linked with a move to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia this summer, but the La Liga gloveman now looks set for a move to Barcelona. 3 3 Mikel Arteta and his team are hoping to add depth in between the sticks, but are thought to still see David Raya as the number one. Raya has won consecutive Golden Glove awards since his arrival from Brentford, forming the base of the Premier League's most formidable defence this season. For Arteta, the main focus will be on bringing in a centre-forward. forced midfielder Mikel Merino to play up front for the latter stages of the campaign. Reports have suggested that one of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko or Sporting bagsman Viktor Gyokeres will come through the door at the Emirates in the coming months. However, both deals are likely to be expensive and neither player is without suitors from other top clubs around Europe too.
