Bhool Chuk Maaf box office collection Day 8: Rajkummar Rao-Wamiqa Gabbi's film set to cross Rs 50 crore mark, Varun Dhawan's Baby John beaten
Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf has completed half of its planned two-week theatrical run. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film's Indian nett collection rose to Rs 47.25 crore, after it earned Rs 3.15 crore on its second Friday. In all probability, the film should be able to cross the Rs 50 crore mark on Saturday, and will then have one week remaining to maximise its earnings. The Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan courtroom drama Kesari 2 had a similar first week run, but it crossed the Rs 50 crore mark on its second Friday. With the current numbers, Bhool Chuk Maaf has already surpassed the India nett collection of Wamiqa's last film, Baby John, which featured Varun Dhawan and debutant Keerthy Suresh. On the other hand, Rajkummar's last film was the Amar Kaushik directorial Stree 2, which had an India nett collection of over Rs 600 crore. ALSO READ: PVR-Inox top boss declares Rajkummar Rao's Bhool Chuk Maaf a 'genuine hit' after theatrical release dispute: 'Has revived theatres' The occupancy rates remained sparse, averaging of 10.90% throughout the day. The morning and afternoon shows achieved a rate of 5.27% and 11.80%, respectively, while the evening and night shows had a rate of 11.21% and 15.32%. The makers will be hoping that this number will go up the coming two days, as this is the last weekend the film will run in the theatres almost unchallenged. On June 5, Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, featuring Kamal Haasan, will be release in theatres, and on the very next day, the ensemble comedy Housefull 5 will be released. The cast of the latter includes stars like Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff. The limited theatre run was decided after the makers of the film announced that they will be releasing the film straight on Prime Video. This move came during the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. This did not go well with the multiplex chain PVR INOX, which sued them for damages, and finally, Maddock Films had to release the film in theatres, but just for two weeks. The film will be available to stream on Prime Video from June 6.

Akshay Kumar ‘out of form' in Housefull 5? Netizens say he lost his ‘comic touch,' was ‘overacting'
Ever since the trailer for the highly anticipated comedy movie Housefull 5 dropped, social media has been abuzz about how Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, one of the leads in this multi-starrer, has lost his comic touch. Netizens also claimed the 'Kesari 2' actor was overacting and seemed out of form in the Housefull 5 trailer. In a Reddit post, a social media user said that they had high expectations from the Housefull 5 Trailer and were excited to see Akshay in his 'OG comedy avatar.' But to the user's surprise, judging only from the trailer, 'it felt like Akshay was not able to unleash his full comic form and whatever scenes he did felt like overacting. This is a rare time when I have felt Akshay was not at his best.' The post concluded with the user saying they have low hopes for the movie. Other netizens also chimed in to share their disappointment and said, 'I feel like the trailer was edited in the wrong way, it seemed linear, which it shouldn't actually. Not a creative edit, definitely. Akshay also wasn't in the right form.' A user said, 'Yes. Exhaustion shows on his face. His face and body have gone into auto mode while performing scenes.' 'Woi same expression woi same scripts, remake banate jao safe side me reh ke paise kamate jao. This is what Bollywood is left with. It felt like he was trying to copy his past, but couldn't, even the eiiihhh was disappointing, which he did perfectly in previous instalments,' another user added. A user hoped that his character in the movie would be written well to cover up his overacting. 'I think he overreacts, I don't have a problem... But hope his character is well written. Some of the roles, like his role in Hera Pheri OR Welcome, have well-written characters.... Hence, the comedy feels natural, but this feels a little forced.' The trailer started with a voiceover by Nana Patekar explaining the plot of the film. A billionaire is marking his 100th birthday on a luxurious yacht with a star-studded party and decides to give his inheritance to his 'Jolly'. Then, confusion starts as three Jollys claim to be the real heirs of the property: Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan), and Julius (Akshay Kumar). The trailer is loaded with peppy tracks, jokes and some iconic film references. At the end of the trailer, Jackie Shroff was spotted saying his son Tiger Shroff's hit 'Choti Bachchi ho kya?' dialogue. Akshay Kumar Riteish Deshmukh Abhishek Bachchan Sanjay Dutt Fardeen Khan Nana Patekar Jackie Shroff Ranjeet Johny Lever Nargis Fakhri Sonam Bajwa Soundarya Sharma Chitrangada Singh Chunky Pandey Shreyas Talpade Dino Morea Nikitin Dheer Akashdeep Sabir Housefull 5 will hit the theatres on June 6.

Box Office: Can Housefull 5 be the next big hit movie for Bollywood after Raid 2?
Bollywood box office has been in a pretty good shape since April 2025. The industry has had two decent theatrical performers in the form of Jaat and Kesari 2 and a big hit in the form of Raid 2. Jaat netted Rs 85 crore while Kesari 2 is about to end its run in the vicinity of Rs 90.50 crore. Raid 2 is sure to collect over Rs 160 crore in its full run. The new release Bhool Chuk Maaf is running in theatres and it is doing better than what most people expected. The verdict shall be known in a few days but there is no denying that it has exceeded industry expectations. Now, all eyes are on Housefull 5. In the post-pandemic setting where sequels are overperforming at the box office, it is expected that Housefull 5 will also create a big box office splash. The trailer of Housefull 5 looks grand and on top of that, it has a lot of what the audiences enjoyed watching in the first 4 films of the franchise. If the movie clicks with the lovers of the franchise, it is sure to emerge as the 2nd highest grosser of the year so far, only behind Chhaava. Every film of the Housefull franchise has been a hit or a superhit at the box office. There have been instances when the reviews were not entirely positive but the franchise factor, along with the ensemble cast helped the film sail through. The loyal audiences of the franchise need to turn up for Housefull 5 so that more movies of the franchise can be made. Housefull movies are difficult to execute because they have a lot of actors to take care of. And there is no denying that these films are really very expensive too and so the theatrical recoveries have to be solid, along with the already strong non-theatrical recoveries courtesy the brand of the franchise and obviously the reputation of Nadiadwala and Grandsons. Housefull 5's X-factor is that it is pitched as a murder-comedy on a cruise. In the trailer launch, producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed that there are two different climaxes with two different killers and that has added to the intrigue for the film. But let's be honest. No one really cares about the killer and everyone is in it for the comedy. It has been a while since a proper slapstick comedy was made at this scale for Bollywood. The advance bookings for Housefull 5 begin over the weekend. How excited are you for the 5th installment of the loved franchise?
