Sheriff: Geismar man arrested after shooting in Gonzales
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man was arrested after a shooting in Gonzales on Monday evening. According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home on Hackett Canal Drive around 4:30 p.m. When they arrived, deputies found a man outside the home with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a hospital for his injuries. The victim told deputies that a family acquaintance, Kevin Chambers, 25, flashed a gun and pointed it toward him after an altercation, which led to gunfire being exchanged. Deputies later learned that Chambers fled the scene and drove himself to a hospital, where he was also treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Chambers was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of a weapon.
