Oceanside Police cruiser hit by vehicle on SR-76 near I-5 interchange
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A police officer was involved in a collision with another vehicle on State Route 76 at Interstate 5 while on duty Monday, prompting a full closure of the highway for nearly an hour.
The Oceanside Police Department reports an Oceanside Police officer driving on SR-76 was involved in a collision with another vehicle near the northbound I-5 off-ramp at 9:43 a.m. Monday.

The police department says the officer had just cleared a detail and was traveling back to the Oceanside Police Department when the collision happened.
The officer involved was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police report.

The collision prompted a full closure of eastbound SR-76 at the I-5 interchange, including the west and east on-ramps to I-5 north, and the I-5 north off-ramp to SR-76 west/Coast Highway, Caltrans reported. All impacted lanes were reopened to traffic by 11 a.m.
