Hardcore band Drain's X factor: Positivity. ‘We've got nothing but love.'
The cover art of Drain's 2023 album 'Living Proof' is no day at the beach: It's a cartoonishly psychedelic trip to the California coast complete with a tidal wave, palm trees, flaming faces, a porcine police officer and a careening helicopter.
Riding the wave is Drain's logo — a cutie Kewpie doll in a shark costume — that serves as a fitting metaphor for the band: a deceptively friendly party starter that revels in the chaos of its shows, which add boogie boards and beach balls to hardcore staples like crowd-surfers and circle pits.
