Sixth annual Detective Doty Memorial Run held in Rock Hill
ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Runners hit the pavement to remember a deputy in York County killed in the line of duty.
The 'Detective Mike Doty Memorial Run' took place in Rock Hill on Saturday morning.
Doty was one of four deputies shot while searching for a domestic violence suspect in January 2018.
Doty's family and friends chose 'Keystone Substance Abuse Services' as the beneficiary of proceeds from the race. Keystone is an organization that helps people dealing with alcohol or drug-related problems, which Detective Doty was a passionate advocate for.
Doty was an investigator with York County's multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement unit and the sheriff's office's Narcan program coordinator.
