‘Nobody deserves something like that': Man dead after daylight shooting at Mississauga plaza
Balkar Khakh was only a few hours into his work day when the shots rang out.
Khakh, the manager of G&G Trucking Solutions in Mississauga, rushed out of his office and towards the gunfire. The search for the source of the shots was short-lived; in the parking lot, a man lay fatally wounded beside a black pick-up truck. Around him, casings littered the pavement.
'I ran out and saw him (the victim), and I was just so confused — nobody deserves something like that,' he said.
Moments before, Khakh told the Star, his colleagues had seen two men fire a final shot, before getting into a Dodge Challenger, stripped of its license plate, and fleeing the scene.

'It was a very hard start to the day,' one colleague, who asked not to be named out of fear for his safety, told the Star. 'Very, very scary.'
Just after 12 p.m., first responders arrived at the scene, a parking lot near Tranmere Drive and Telford Way, and began administering CPR to the man in his 40s suffering from gunshot wounds. The efforts, however, were unsuccessful; the victim was transported to hospital, where he died.
The shooting appears to be an 'isolated' incident, police said.
Peel police's homicide unit has taken over the investigation, which is 'still in its early stages,' police told reporters at the scene on Wednesday afternoon. A suspect description has not been provided.
Investigators cordoned off Tranmere Drive and Telford Way with police tape, and a mobile command centre and a forensics identification vehicle were parked out front of G&G Trucking Solutions on Wednesday afternoon. In the parking lot, a black Ram pickup truck was surrounded by evidence markers.
Police don't believe there is a threat to public safety, Peel police Const. Michelle Stafford told reporters Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Peel police Const. Michelle Stafford said she can see how bullets flying in broad daylight would be 'very concerning' to local residents.
Stafford said she couldn't give information about why the victim was in the parking lot at the time of the shooting, and asked anyone with information, or surveillance footage from the area, to contact investigators.
By Tuesday afternoon, investigators had cordoned off Tran mere Drive and Telford Way with police tape.
