Qatar provides comprehensive medical care to its pilgrims in cooperation with Saudi German Hospital in Makkah
DOHA: As part of the State of Qatar's commitment to the safety and health of its pilgrims, the Qatari Hajj Mission has intensified its efforts to provide comprehensive healthcare from the moment pilgrims depart until their safe return to their homeland. This is achieved by harnessing all modern medical capabilities and services, providing qualified Qatari medical teams working around the clock, and cooperating with the Saudi German Hospital in Makkah.
The Qatari Hajj Mission's medical unit held a coordination meeting with the mission's accompanying medical staff, including doctors, paramedics, pharmacists, and nurses, as well as medical staff from the Saudi German Hospital. The meeting reviewed the medical work plan for the season in Makkah and the holy sites (Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah).
During the meeting, Dr Khaled Abdul Hadi, Head of the Medical Unit, reviewed the healthcare protocols approved by Hamad Medical Corporation and the Ministry of Public Health, while fully adhering to Saudi health procedures. He also reviewed the organization of work mechanisms and daily shifts, as well as methods for dealing with emergency cases, including identifying cases requiring isolation or hospitalization, to ensure the provision of safe and comprehensive healthcare.
Dr Abdul Hadi emphasized that the Qatari Hajj Mission prioritizes the safety of pilgrims. A distinguished medical team has been deployed, including a select group of family medicine, emergency medicine, and epidemiology physicians, in addition to nursing teams, pharmacists, and male and female paramedics, to accompany pilgrims and provide the highest level of medical services throughout the Hajj season.
Medical clinics for men and women in Makkah have been equipped to the highest standards, including isolation, hospitalization, and observation rooms. The mission has also provided fully equipped clinics, pharmacies, examination rooms, and emergency departments in Mina and Arafat, as well as a state-of-the-art ambulance to ensure rapid response to critical cases during transportation, including the Nafra stage from Arafat to Muzdalifah and during the stoning of the Jamarat.
Regarding the new partnership with the Saudi German Hospital in Makkah, Dr Abdul Hadi explained that this step comes within the framework of strengthening the medical system for Qatari pilgrims, noting that the hospital is one of the most prominent healthcare facilities in the Kingdom, and enjoys a distinguished reputation for providing medical services.
He added that it will give priority to receiving and treating Qatari pilgrims in emergency cases, in addition to the contribution of its specialized medical staff to support the medical unit crews at the mission headquarters this year.
He pointed out that the cooperation aims to ensure round-the-clock reception of emergency cases and the provision of the highest levels of healthcare, wishing safety and well-being to all pilgrims from the State of Qatar.
It is worth noting that the Saudi German Hospital in Makkah Al-Mukarramah includes 300 operating beds, is equipped with the latest medical devices, and includes integrated intensive care departments and all consulting specialties available 24 hours a day. Its emergency department is distinguished by its specialized consultants, and is considered one of the strongest emergency departments in the region, and is officially accredited by the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Saudi Red Crescent.
