Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Sign MoU in Field of Civil Aviation

The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with the Government of the State of Kuwait, marking a new chapter in civil aviation cooperation between the two nations. Representing Kuwait, Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Sabah, Head of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), attended the signing ceremony which took place during an official visit to Kuwait. The event was also attended by Saudi Ambassador to Kuwait, Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled. The MoU is designed to enhance bilateral collaboration in civil aviation, with a focus on technical, administrative, regulatory, operational, and technological areas. It also emphasizes the promotion of aviation safety and security. A bilateral meeting was held alongside the signing ceremony to address shared interests and explore further opportunities for cooperation in the aviation sector. This agreement aligns with ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships and exchange expertise in civil aviation, supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and its goal of becoming a global aviation and air transport hub. Mawani: CMA CGM Launch New Shipping Routes to India, Oman, Iraq

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has introduced two new CMA CGM shipping services—India Red Sea Express (BIGEX3) and India Upper Gulf Express (BIGEX4)—at Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam. These additional infrastructures aim to strengthen maritime connectivity, boost trade, and support Saudi Arabia's import and export sector. BIGEX3 connects Jeddah Islamic Port with Nhava Sheva and Mundra in India, as well as Salalah in Oman, offering a total capacity of 2,633 TEUs. Meanwhile, BIGEX4 links King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam to Nhava Sheva and Mundra in India, and Umm Qasr in Iraq, with a total capacity of 3,527 TEUs. This expansion aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub and a key trade link between three continents. During an interview with the 'Liwan' program, the former Governor of Khafji, Khaled Al-Otaishan, has disclosed exclusive details about the bombardment of Khafji Governorate during Kuwait Invasion. Severe Bombardment Al-Otaishan revealed that the Iraqi forces bombed the entire governorate including his house. Consequently, he had to move his office to Ras Mishab, south of Khafji. From dawn to sunset, Al-Otaishan was working in his office alongside approximately 20 employees. After sunset, he was staying in a safe camp in the desert. However, the Iraqi forces also fired rockets at Ras Mishab. Significant Visit Prince Fahd bin Salman visited the Khafji port and the Kuwaitis who were staying in schools. During the invasion, Prince Fahd bin Salman visited the Khafji port and met the Kuwaitis who were staying in schools. At that time, the prince received a call from Prince Mohammed bin Fahd asking him to go to Dammam. Unfortunately, the airports were not operating at night due to the lack of lighting and the pilot rejected to travel at night. However, Prince Fahd made his decision to travel immediately, so he gathered around 14 cars and asked them to lighten the path of the plane. Although the pilot refused to take off during night, the prince forced him to fly. Prince Fahd bin Salman visited the Khafji port and the Kuwaitis who were staying in schools. 'Prince Fahd bin Salman was very brave,' Al-Otaishan said. The Story of Luxurious Cars According to Al-Otaishan, Kuwaitis were seeking a haven in Saudi Arabia. That is why they rushed to Khafji port with their families. The agencies that owned expensive luxurious cars were afraid that the Iraqi forces would seize their cars. As a result, they asked the Kuwaiti citizens to take their cars to the port. Al-Otaishan noted that Khafji received between 65 to 70 luxurious cars during the war. After almost one week, Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah told Al-Otaishan that they are in a dire need of these cars. So, the Kingdom made a statement stipulating that the cars will be transferred to the Kuwaiti authorities and Ali Al-Sabah signed it. During an interview with the 'Liwan' program, the former Governor of Khafji, Khaled Al-Otaishan, unveiled the details of the battle of Khafji, taking place on January 30, 1991, during which a Saudi battalion defeated an entire Iraqi brigade. The battle of Khafji took place during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, which started on August 2, 1990, when Iraqi forces invaded neighboring Kuwait and occupied the country, in a critical turning point in the Middle East's history. Battle of Khafji In a propaganda maneuver by Iraq's leadership, an entire Iraqi brigade entered Khafji, in an effort to claim that Iraqi forces had succeeded in penetrating Saudi Arabia's territory. After occupying Khafji for 24 hours, the Saudi military launched a swift counteroffensive, led by a Saudi National Guard battalion. In a rapid and precise assault, supported by superior tactics and coordination, the Saudi battalion conquered the Iraqi brigade within 8 hours. Defeating Iraqi Brigade Furthermore, the Saudi military launched airstrikes against Iraqi military positions to prevent any counterattack. As a result, the Saudi military liberated Khafji within just 24 hours. As they withdrew, the Iraqi forces planted landmines across Khafji and along the border to impede any further advances.
