UN Resident Coordinator Praises Bahrain's Election to UN Security Council
The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bahrain, Khaled El Mekwad, has extended his congratulations to the Kingdom of Bahrain on its successful election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term.
In an official statement released today, El Mekwad described the achievement as a reflection of Bahrain's dynamic diplomatic efforts and its unwavering commitment to upholding international peace and security.
'Bahrain's election to the Security Council highlights the Kingdom's growing role within the United Nations system,' he said. 'It is a recognition by the international community of Bahrain's dedication to promoting dialogue, fostering cooperation, and advancing sustainable development on a global scale.'
El Mekwad affirmed that the UN team in Bahrain is fully prepared to support the Kingdom during its tenure on the Security Council. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in addressing shared global challenges and advancing the values of the UN Charter.
'We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Bahrain to strengthen the principles of the United Nations and contribute to building a more peaceful, stable, and prosperous world,' he added.
