International confidence Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah highlighted that the prominent local, regional, and international participation in the forum is a clear indication of the international confidence Bahrain holds, underscoring its status as a trusted destination for economic dialogue and shaping future development strategies. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah added that the Kingdom remains committed to strengthening its role as an active partner in the global economic system by continuing to enhance the investment environment, adopt best practices, and empower human capital by expanding productive employment opportunities in partnership with the private sector. This comes in line with the positive indicators achieved by the National Labour Market Plan 2023 – 2026, which aims to create quality job opportunities for citizens, positioning them as the optimal choice for employment and meeting national aspirations for sustainable prosperity. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah thanked the BCCI for organising the forum, which embodies the Chamber's vital role, rooted in over 85 years of history, in supporting economic development efforts and broadening the horizons of regional and international cooperation. On his part, Sameer bin Abdullah Nass, Chairman of the BCCI, thanked HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for supporting the Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025. He highlighted the government's commitment to supporting economic initiatives that promote business and encourage dialogue among various economic actors, thereby advancing sustainable development and strengthening Bahrain's position as a leading commercial and industrial hub.

Deputy Prime Minister inaugurates Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition

TDT | Manama The social housing sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain remains a top national development priority. This was emphasised by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who was deputised by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to inaugurate the Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition. The event, held under the patronage of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, will be under the theme 'Towards Innovative and Sustainable Housing Solutions' and will take place from April 23 to 25 at the Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB). Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah noted that the sector receives continuous support under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who has directed efforts to accelerate housing projects to deliver 50,000 new housing units and improve public services, thereby advancing the Kingdom and enhancing family wellbeing. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the government, under the leadership of HRH Prince Salman, has launched new financing programmes and options aimed at delivering prompt housing services tailored to citizens' needs and preferences. These efforts support the implementation of government priorities for the 2023–2026 programme. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah also highlighted the follow-up and directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to expand projects under the Government Land Development Rights Programme, which is currently being implemented across the Kingdom in partnership with the private sector. He commended the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Eskan Bank for organising the conference. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the event serves as a platform for stakeholders from Bahrain and abroad, including those from both the public and private sectors as well as international experts, to discuss the current state of social housing, its challenges, and development opportunities. Commitment Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah also commended the active participation of government entities, real estate companies, and commercial banks in the accompanying exhibition, noting that their involvement reflects a commitment to providing housing projects and solutions that help citizens access suitable housing as swiftly as possible. He wished the organisers continued success. During the opening ceremony, memorandums of understanding were signed between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and several real estate firms to implement projects under the Government Land Development Rights Programme. The Deputy Prime Minister then honoured the companies supporting the conference and inaugurated the exhibition. Unwavering support On her part, H.E. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, thanked His Majesty King Hamad for his unwavering support of the social housing sector. She underscored the Ministry's and Eskan Bank's commitment to fulfilling His Majesty's vision by accelerating housing projects and delivering 50,000 housing units. The Minister also thanked HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for supporting the conference and exhibition, which aligns with HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's directives to expand events that promote awareness of housing finance programmes.

Upon arrival, accompanied by H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah was received by H.E. Nayef bin Bandar Al Sudairi, the Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain. Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, inaugurated the Hamad Town Walkway during the Bahrain Sports Day celebrations, organized by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. This event marked a significant step in promoting public health infrastructure and sustainable urban development in the region. According to Bahrain News Agency, the inauguration was attended by Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah emphasized that enhancing public health infrastructure and sustainable urban development are national priorities, aligned with the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Shaikh Khalid highlighted the government's dedication to creating sustainable cities that balance health, environmental, economic, and social needs. He noted that these initiatives aim to provide an integrated lifestyle with facilities that improve the quality of life and encourage regular physical activity in residential communities. He commended the ministry's efforts in developing public walkways and open spaces, in coordination with relevant authorities. This marks the fourth consecutive year of delivering projects aligned with the government's urban development vision, with walkways across various governorates inaugurated on Bahrain Sports Day to reinforce sports as a community culture. Minister Al Mubarak emphasized that the Hamad Town Walkway reflects the government's commitment, under the leadership of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to expanding public facilities that meet citizens' needs and provide health and environmental benefits. He expressed gratitude to Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah for the government's continued support of development projects, particularly through the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, and for his participation in the annual opening of new walkways on Bahrain Sports Day. Minister Al Mubarak added that the Hamad Town Walkway is part of an urban development strategy, completed in collaboration with the Northern Municipal Council and supported by the Ministry of Works. The project provides parking spaces for visitors, ensuring an integrated and accessible public space. Located along Shaikh Hamad Street near Roundabout 12, the walkway spans 1.4 kilometers and covers a total area of 15,000 square meters, including 7,500 square meters of green spaces with over 370 shade trees. It features solar-powered lighting to support environmental sustainability and offers over 70 parking spaces for visitors. The walkway is equipped with shaded warm-up stations, dedicated children's play areas with rubber flooring, and inclusive facilities designed to accommodate people of determination. Additionally, the site includes a commercial shop and restrooms, ensuring convenience for all visitors.
