Al-Hajj Tawfiq, who will lead the delegation, described the visit as the largest private sector delegation since the fall of the previous regime and noted that it includes key leaders from Jordan's commercial and service sectors. Over the course of two days, the delegation will engage in high-level talks with Syrian ministers, members of the Syrian Chamber of Commerce Union, and private sector business leaders. The discussions will focus on strengthening trade ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration, including the establishment of a joint Jordanian-Syrian business council and the organization of a business forum in Amman. Al-Hajj Tawfiq expressed his hope that the visit would mark the beginning of a new chapter in the economic relations between the two countries. The delegation will also focus on supporting Syria in its rebuilding efforts, particularly following the recent lifting of sanctions and Syria's reintegration into the regional and global economy. Al-Hajj Tawfiq explained that the purpose of opening the office in Baghdad is to assist Jordanian companies wishing to enter the Iraqi market by showcasing products and providing information related to the trade, services, and agricultural sectors in Jordan. He confirmed that this step will contribute to strengthening economic ties between the two brotherly countries, facilitating trade exchanges, and achieving mutual benefits. Al-Hajj Tawfiq also pointed out that the main Jordanian products with strong opportunities in the Iraqi market include sectors such as information technology, financial and banking services, vegetable and fruit exports, transportation and shipping, logistics services, tourism, car trade, housing, construction, and re-exporting goods such as food products, gold, cars, and machinery. He emphasized that the commercial office will provide a platform for networking between the Jordanian and Iraqi business sectors and will enhance investment opportunities in Jordan in line with the country's economic modernization vision. He also highlighted the strong relationship between the Amman Chamber of Commerce and its counterpart in Baghdad, pointing out that the next phase will see the activation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two chambers in 2023, which aims to promote cooperation in trade, economy, and investment. Al-Hajj Tawfiq added that the Amman Chamber will work on providing comprehensive information to Iraqi investors about investment opportunities and incentives in Jordan, aiming to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
