Kalba Club wins the Open Judo Championship title
Kalba Club showcased impressive talent, winning a total of six medals in the Under-15 category, which included four gold and two bronze medals. In the Under-21 category, they earned 12 medals: four gold, four silver, and four bronze. The Fujairah Martial Arts Club secured second place in the Under-21 category, bringing home seven medals—four gold, one silver, and two bronze. Khorfakkan Club followed in third place with five medals, consisting of two silver and three bronze. In the Under-15 category, Sharjah Sports Club finished second with ten medals, which included three gold, four silver, and three bronze. The Fujairah Martial Arts Club again performed well, coming in third with ten medals: three gold, two silver, and five bronze. The winners of the championship were honored by Dr. Nasser Al Tamimi, who is a member of the National Olympic Committee and the Secretary-General of the Federation. He was joined by several notable officials, including Issa Musa bin Huwaiden and Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Al Darmaki, along with Abdullah Ali Al Balushi, who oversees individual sports.

Karate 1-Youth League Fujairah 2025 shatters records and sets new standards
The 2025 Karate 1-Youth League Fujairah concluded with an exceptional finale, marked by impressive public attendance, setting a new record with 16,228 spectators following the event over four days. On the final day of the competition, Emirati athletes shone brightly, with Khorfakkan Club winning a gold medal through Iyad Abdulhamid in the Kumite over 55 kg, under 14 years old, held at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. Khorfakkan Club also came close to winning another medal in this global event, with their player Faisal Khalidi finishing in fifth place in the Kumite for youth over 70 kg on the first day of the championship. On the final day, the Arab medal count increased in the under-14 Kumite category, with seven medals awarded: two gold, one for the UAE and one for Egypt, for Iyad Abdulhamid (over 55 kg) and Mai Barakat (under 52 kg); two silvers for Saudi Arabia's Abdulrahman Al-Shammari (under 55 kg) and Egypt's Abdullah Salem (under 40 kg); and three bronzes for Saudi Arabia's Sara Al-Sumaih (under 42 kg), Mohammed Harbi (under 50 kg), and Egypt's Omar Murad (under 40 kg). With the results from the final day, the total number of Arab medals in the championship reached 35, including 7 gold (5 for Egypt, 1 each for the UAE and Saudi Arabia), 6 silvers (3 for Egypt, 2 for Saudi Arabia, and 1 for Palestine), and 22 bronzes (10 for Egypt, 4 for Saudi Arabia, 3 for Jordan, 2 for Tunisia, and 1 each for Qatar, Kuwait, and Libya). This edition, held for the third time in Fujairah, was distinguished by the presence of leading figures from the international, Asian, and Arab federations, as well as numerous federation presidents from around the world. They followed the event over the four consecutive days, due to the largest number of participants in the history of the World Youth League, with over 2,300 athletes representing 87 countries. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qannas, President of the Arab and West Asian Karate Federations, expressed his happiness with the 2025 Fujairah edition, stating: 'This championship stands out from previous ones by breaking records in the number of players, referees, and the excellent organization. It is under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Fujairah, which adds significant value. The participation of a large number of countries and the presence of all the world's top-ranked players reflects the trust participants have in the UAE's ability to organize the event at the highest level, which we witnessed in Fujairah 2025." He continued, 'We must thank Major General Nasser Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the World Karate Federation, for his contributions to the sport, not only in the UAE and Asia but globally. 'Since he took over the Asian Karate Federation, the sport has made significant progress in all areas. He is internationally recognized and a major supporter, capable of solving any global issue. We've learned a lot from him. As President of the Arab Federation, I'm pleased with our athletes' achievements in this global event. We have top-ranked players and all the ingredients for a successful championship were present in 'Fujairah 2025.'' He added, 'There are great efforts being made to bring karate back to the Olympics, thanks to the work of Major General Nasser Al Razooqi and Antonio Espinos, President of the World Karate Federation.'

UAE's Rawdha eyes first international medal at Fazza Para Athletics GP
Promising Emirati para-athlete Rawdha Ghaneem is keenly waiting to make her second appearance at the Fazza Para Athletics Grand Prix, which is marking its 16th year over the next few days. Ghaneem, a trainee at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, wants to put up a good show at the Dubai 2025- Grand Prix that will be held at her home ground next week. 'I want to become one of the best in Asia,' said the Dubai resident, who will compete in women's shot put F33. 'I'm so excited to compete at the Fazza Para Athletics for the second time. Hope I can get my personal best at the competition this time.' Ghaneem, who has been using a wheelchair since a child, highlighted her desire to win medals at competitions to change the mentally of people who believe women don't do sports like shot put. 'When I started doing shot put in 2020, there were many outside my family who questioned my sport — saying 'this sport is not meant for women but only played by men'. 'I want to win a medal in international competition to end all their doubts and change the perception,' said Ghaneem, whose first competition was at Khorfakkan Club. Having competed in swimming in her young age, the 21-year-old has strong arms which she believes is her strength in the sport. 'I did a lot of swimming as a teenager. And that was the reason my coach suggested me to do shot put. I enjoy playing the sport (Para athletics) now.' 'Hope I can make my family proud of me one day.' She admires American swimming legend Michael Phelps in that regard. 'I saw him competing on TV when I was young and he really inspires me,' said the promising player who aims to take up political science as main subject in university. At the 16th Fazza Para Athletics Grand Prix – Dubai 2025, Ghaneem will be part of the hosts UAE's 64-member team aiming to make a mark. She will be competing alongside senior team-mate Sara Aljneibi, Rio 2016 bronze medallist in the women's shot put F33 event. With a participation of around 400 para athletes from 52 countries, the Dubai 2025 Grand Prix is set to get underway from February 10 to 13, 2025 at the recently renovated Dubai Club for People of Determination grounds.

UAE champions win 44 medals at Sharjah Paralympic Championships
Impressive medal count by UAE athletes During the first two days of the competition, UAE champions won a total of 44 medals, including 13 golds, 16 silvers, and 15 bronzes. Notable achievements include 5 gold medals by Al Thiqa Club, 3 golds by Khorfakkan Club, and 2 golds by both Dubai and Al Ain Clubs, among other outstanding performances. World records set by athletes Several athletes set new world records during the competition, including Belgian Maxime Karabin in the men's 1500m, 200m, and 100m T52 races, and Tunisian Walid Ktila in the 1500m T34 race. Organisers praise successful championship Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, attributed the championship's success to the teamwork and continuous dedication of all organizing committees. He emphasized the importance of leadership support, particularly from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in making Sharjah a global hub for disabled sports. Sharjah's role as a global sports destination Yousef Mohammed Al Dobi, Championship Director, highlighted the significant role Sharjah plays in attracting international sports events for athletes with disabilities. He noted the great public and media interaction and praised the professional organizing teams, which ensured the safety, comfort, and success of the event, also promoting cultural and sports exchanges with global champions.
