Postponed 2025 Kids' Fishing Rodeo goes swimmingly
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Dozens of families flocked to Plum Lake for the annual Kids' Fishing Rodeo.
Officials with Parks and Recreation and Texas Parks and Wildlife stocked Plum Lake with trout and other fish species to give kids of all ages a chance to cast their lines in a friendly competition on Saturday, March 15.
Despite weather postponements and Friday's strong winds, Recreation Coordinator Cindy Cummings said the 2025 Kids' Fishing Rodeo was a success.
'Usually, the parents are all out with them; sometimes, the whole family and grandmas are out,' Cummings said. 'We have a pretty good turnout this week. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate last week, so we had to postpone it a little bit, but it all worked out really well.'
Kids ages 2 through 16 competed to reel in the biggest fish, with third through first place in each age group winning a prize.
