Bulls and Broncs is back for another go

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An action-packed event is ready to make its return to the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls. With the livestock waiting in the wings, the scene is set for Bulls & Broncs inside the Expo Building. The eighth annual event will feature bull riders and saddle bronc riders from across the region. KPot is now open in Sioux Falls 'We've got guys that have been to the bright lights in Las Vegas to the guy that's just starting out,' Bulls & Broncs Promoter Dan Pirrung said. The bulls are the main attraction, but the two-day competition will include a mini bulls event to kick off the action on Saturday. 'Yeah, it's a good way to get your foot in the door, it's a good way to get started,' Pirrung said. 'We want to build bull riders and to do that a mini bull is the best way for that kid to get a real life feel of what those bulls are going to feel like as they get older and pursue a career in rodeo,' Raise Em' Rank Rodeo owner Dillon Swanson said. Dillon Swanson owns Raise Em' Rank Rodeo and says it's also a chance for the veterans to shadow the next generation of bull riders. 'Any opportunity they can get to go compete in front of a live crowd and some pretty cool venues and opportunities those kids eat up, so great opportunity to showcase the talent coming up in the state of South Dakota and the midwest and the hard work these kids have been putting in, it's pretty impressive,' Swanson said. The highlight of Bulls & Broncs may be the Kids Boot Scramble. 'Little guys, they take one boot off, put it in a pile and go down to the other end of the arena and then you've got to run down, put your boot on, run back to the clown and whoever gets back there first gets a pair of boots,' Pirrung said. Add it all up and Pirrung says it's worth the price of admission. 'Two and a half to three hours full of non-stop action the whole time, you'll be on the edge of your seats the whole time,' Pirrung said. Bulls & Broncs gets underway at 7:30 Friday night at the Expo Building. The competition continues at 5:30 Saturday with the mini bulls, followed by the main event at 7:30. Tickets are $18 for adults. Kids ages 6-12 are $13, while 5-and-under are free. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
